The manual says (pilot's handbook p.15) UNCHECKED
I want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. I understand this way the FSX stress modelling engine is prevented from interfering with accusims' engine?

Correct, must be left "off' in FSX.

Yes, the default damage modelling is very simplistic and generic. Almost an on/off switch and certainly not near a true simulation of any real event.

Does this apply to the WOP Accu Sim P-47 as well?

Interesting... I had overlooked this and have been flying (all Accusim) with the box checked. Yet I've taken damage like everyone else... oil leak, coolant leak, bearings, cylinders... I unchecked the box now anyway.

Please save me digging through the manual again... do I leave the 'aircraft stress causes damage' box checked or not? The box is currently checked. I only ask because yesterday I hit the wrong key and dropped my flaps at almost 200mph! I immediately cut throttle and climbed to kill the speed asap, and was able to retract the flaps and extend them again. They took no noticeable damage. I was expecting them to jam or fail at that speed...

Thanks!

Joe

Hey guys,

accu-sim by-passes the generic stuff. However as is the nature of FSX it might be good to have it turned off.

At 200mph accu-sim will measure all sorts of variables including certain luck just as in real life when we read about things that should have gone wrong but that didnt. However these are coded as being ultra rare, just like the rare mechchanical failures that are also part of the code. Add that little bit of character I think.
