After I install Accusim the engine sounds do not work.

I have compares the two sound.cfg files and there are signficant differences although and sounds that are called up are the same files in each set.

I backed up the original Spifire sounds folder, installed Accusim, verified the sound problem still exists, backed up the Accusim sound.cfg file and replaced it with a copy of the original basic Spitfire .cfg file. Sounds then appear to be ok but presumably the Accusim sound file is meant to be different for a reason?

btw I have installed the vary latest version of Dirextx11 (this suggestion came up in another thread).

Where are these sounds not working? Which sounds are not working?

Switches? Exterior sounds?

I wouldn't go tooling around with anything, as Accu-Sim handles a ton of the sounds through it's own engine.

The in-cockpit engine running sounds don't work but the startup and shutown do. The externals running sounds seem to work.

I only swapped out the sound.cfg file and the running sounds came back.

Ok, you definitely should not be touching this.

I assume you purchased the new Wings of Power 3 Spitfire, AND Accusim?

Is the rest of the aircraft working as intended, including maintenance hanger, etc?

Do you have SP2/Acceleration?

Yes of course I purchased them both.

I have FSX SP2 installed and am running Win7 64 bit. Maintenance hangar and Shift+F4 Payload and Fuel Manager are working ok.

Due to sorting out (or not!) controls axis problems (separate thread) I have not had time to check everything else on the WOP3 Spitfire yet. Should I need to? Is this thing in beta? If I sound a little tetchy its because I have been trying to get some basic things like controls and sound working for three days now.

I don't have controls or sound problems with other aircraft including the older WOP2 Spitfire.

We highly apologize if you are having issues. We'll get you sorted mate. If it is any consolation, I think most are OK. I'm sure whatever it is, we will track it down. I'm putting this post in to the crew and to the guys who specifically know the sound system better than I.

Stay with us. We want to make sure you are happy with your product.

Thanks.

I didn't realise you were part of the A2A Tech Support team.

Any chance you guys can add "A2A Tech Support" to your signatures? Many forum posts are from well meaning and helpful community guys but sometimes its good to know that we are hearing from the company guys who can talk to the design team and maybe make changes. (Sorry, many years of Product Support management leaking out there).

You have a very valid point. I think if I was a normal member of the A2A team, this might not be an issue ROFL!

I do not "on the bills" work for A2A, and they are not my direct employer. If anything, they sub contract me to do marketing and video work for them. I do however work at times very closely with A2A and know Scott and the team well. When time permits I help as much as I can. They must think I am OK or I wouldn't be allowed to have access to builds for filming... so I guess I am doing something right?

It's an interesting relationship, because my company Jaggyroad Films works for many developers in the community. The reality is however that if it wasn't for Scott, I might not be in this line of work. To say I owe him is an understatement. :)

The key to my job is to keep my mouth shut between developers. I wouldn't have a job if I blabbed secrets, as this community is small enough for word to get around quick.

Anyways, I digress. I'll mention something to the A2A guys about having tech support tags. It's not a bad idea.

Just a Tip: If you own a Creative X-Fi Titanium Soundcard like i do, do yourself a Favour and disable it and use your Onboard Soundchip.
I don´t know why but when i use this Soundcard there are always some Sounds not playing. After switching to Onboard sound everything was fine.
I guess i have a Soundcard to sell.... Who wants a used Creative Sh..Soundcard??

oelwanne,

When you have a moment, can you just post the steps you took to set your sound card up correctly? I'd like to put this in our FAQ for owners of this card.

Thank you,
Scott.

Of course Scott.
As a User of a X-Fi Soundcard you normaly have your Onboard Sound disabled via the BIOS.
So all i do was (Vista 32bit):
1. disable the X-Fi Soundcard via the Windows Device Manager
2. reboot and enter the Bios
3. enable the Onboard Sound and exit with saving
4. you are ready to go (just install the newest Driver for your Onboard Soundchip)
for me it was the Realtek High Definition Audio

Its really easy and it solved the Problem. Hope that helps other People.
Ahh.. by the Way, there was no loss in Perfomance noticable for me (which is often an
argument for Soundcards).

OK, I misunderstood. All you are doing here is bypassing your soundblaster card?

Yes thats right. I use only the Mainboard Soundchip. I was trying different setups with my Soundcard but no joy.

klem,

I would not mess with the sound.cfg file, as the accu-sim expansion disables all internal FSX engine sounds since this is being managed in accusim.

First, I want to just verify that Accu-Sim is working correctly and we have just a sound issue here.

Are you able to change your props in the hangar, fly around and see gauges shaking about and such?

If so, we are looking at an issue with sound, sound drivers, etc.

Scott.
