What is the secret to painting the instrument panels in the 182? The file I redid was a bitmap. I repainted it and saved it as bitmap but when I started FSX it flagged that file and said it was invalid. Do I have to do something special to it?
I am using GIMP 2.8.22
Thanks

Re: Repainting the Instrument Panel
I believe those are Extended Bitmap files. Basically they can be compressed and hold an Alpha channel, similar to .tga and .dds files. They gave me lots of trouble in my early days of painting, so I turned them into .dds files if I edited them. You use the same file name but you have to delete or re-name the .bmp file, otherwise they take precedence over the .dds version. To keep the same quality the .dds has to be 32 bit and of course, you have to flip them vertically. Otherwise everything will be upside-down on the model.
