Occasional problem creating dds file

Post by geopetlas »

Has anyone experienced this problem?
Occasionally after flattening my image, then then going to Save As and selecting the DDS option, I get the Error Window stating that there are more than one alpha channel, blah blah, blah. Then that window very quickly minimizes before I can get a chance to click the OK button. I have to minimize Photoshop to click the OK button on the ERROR window. At this point Photoshop freezes and is useless, and the DDS file is not created.

I have to use the Task Manager to end the Photoshop process.

Windows 7, 64 bit
16 gig ram
Photoshop CC 2015.5.1
Nvidia Plugin CS 3 Release 1 (2/14/2007)

Any Ideas as to what is happening and how to remedy this situation?

Whenever I have had that message it means I have more that one alpha channel and need to delete one before saving. I don't get a crash though. Here's the plug-ins I am using. Choose the 32 or 64 bit version, whichever is appropriate. They are a couple of years old now but still work.

32 bit version https://developer.nvidia.com/sites/defa ... 9.1800.exe

64 bit version https://developer.nvidia.com/sites/defa ... 9.1800.exe

I just ran a test, to remind myself what happens. When I try and save with two or more alphas, I get this message.

When I click OK it saves as normal. This is in Photoshop CS6 by the way, so perhaps the plug-in isn't 100% working in the newer CC edition.

Cheers.
Steve.

Steve,

Thanks for the reply and advice.

Turns out that I am using the Photoshop_Plugins_x64_8.55.0109.1800. Where I came up with "Plugin CS 3 Release 1 (2/14/2007)" I don't know.

I do save a lot of the selections I create. Guess I'll just have to make sure not to have more than one before I create the DDS.

Again, thanks for the help.
