Props, seats, dashboards, cockpits... How!

Post by captpopup »

I have viewed some stunning repaints of A2A aircraft whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or two. I am in awe of the quality and design of what I see. This is an area I would love to dabble in and have had a go at repainting the exterior of my Comanche. Here's a question though... how are some repainters changing the prop designs, the upholstery on the seats, the dashboard colours/textures and even the clothing worn by the pilot and passengers (not seen that yet but have just read that someone has done it).

I have the paint kit but can't find these items within it... any clues?

Ray

Hello Ray,

for the internals you will work on the original files in your installation to change them and include with inside the repaint folder for the folder you want to use them with. You may need to also change some cfg bits depending on which textures you change. But it is possible to change everything, you can even change gauge faces if you so wish.

thanks,
Lewis

If using photoshop you can use brush styles to change the colours/shades of things, settings like lighten, multiple etc are useful for this. Remember to always save as first though that way your saves will be to a new file and not over the originals!

I agree, the repaints put out for all of the A2A aircraft I fly are absolutely stunning and I would be 99 percent of them have come from the forums here. I'm going to try my hand at repainting an interior tonight! Hopefully I don't gain too many gray hairs!!
