For many years I've painted tons of liveries with my faithful old Corel Paint Shop Pro program. However, as paint kits have gotten larger and more complex, I've had to move on and migrate to Adobe Photoshop CC, specially since there is no earlier versions of Photoshop I was able to buy at this time.
Although many tools are similar, there are many others I'm not familiar with. I've checked YouTube channels to see how others are painting FSX liveries with the latest Photoshop CC program, but I came across none. The best out there is for those still using the earlier versions of Photoshop CS. I've also noticed that many folks advise that they should download and install DDS Utilities, DDS viewer, and NVIDIA DDS Plug-in.
Checking around for an answer, I came across several other forums where some are saying that these plugins are not working with the latest versions of Photoshop. Is it because Photoshop CC (2015), which is the one I got, no longer requires it, or what?
For those of you who do use the latest Photoshop CC version, can you please advise what has been your experience? I really want to get started on my paintings again, but as part of my learning curve with Photoshop, I want to make sure I'm starting on the right foot.
Thank you in advance,
Johnny

Re: Moving from Corel to Photoshop CC
The Nvidia DDS plug in is the normal requirement for photoshop and negates the need for any other external programs as its all done in Photoshop. No idea if the official Nvidia plugin works with CC or not. Its basically the ability to save as .dds you are after.
Here's a youtube video that popped up along with other results when I googled the nvidia plugin and photoshop CC;

Getting to grips with Photoshop will be a long process but will be worth it. Try and master the pen tool as soon as you can. It's invaluable for smooth curves and complex shapes.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm familiar with the pen tool, it's something I've always used in Corel, but I have to say I like the Photoshop pen more then Corel's. Two thinks I've always known, the power of the pen, and layers are your friend. I'll keep playing around with it, and hopefully soon come up with some cool repaints.

Re: Moving from Corel to Photoshop CC
Hello Specialist. Well personally I used to use paintshop pro and had one of the very first versions ever released and had a few newer versions after that and actually use it to create other things not related to fsx at all and in that respect it's very good. Then I got interested in painting fsx aircraft so then I had to research many things and compare between psp and photoshop and decide what was going to be the tools of the trade so to speak and after many hours of researching I found that photoshop was the best for painting fsx aircraft.
Now of course this is only based on *my* research and does not mean it's better then any other program but what I found is the simplicity, versatility, layout and *what you see is what u get* type of layout was a lot more user friendly and simple compared to other programs out there, even gimp and photoshop does not need any other programs to operate like DXTBMP or any of those... One of the best programs around is in fact the Nvidia DDS plugin. With that simple tool alone it's like having an update for photoshop and is very versatile in what it can do.
This is all I use and there are still things I haven't learned yet with photoshop because there's a ton to learn and manipulate using this program.
Personally I use CS6 and I found this one alone is the best one to use in my past and you don't have to use any cloud services or any of that stuff. It starts, I use it, save my work and it's done. What you see is what u get with CS6.
All my paints from day one have been with CS6 because the possibilities are endless plus there are thousands of addons like plugins everything from fonts to effects, brushes.... you name it, you'll probably find it somewhere online if your using photoshop plus there are tons of tutorials out there.
I'll never go back to anything else and I don't have to worry about new versions either because what I have right now is all I'll never need since I have yet not discovered everything in this version.
See my link below of my screenshots and you'll see CS6 at work.
Good luck on your quest.
