C182 paintkit - lost layer?

Post by CBris »

While comparing the PSD in the paintkit and the dds images "sold" with the C182 I appear to be missing a layer - the lines that show the variousscrew on panel covers. In the first image below, I have taken a screenshot from DXTBMP of the C182_t.dds image from one of the deliverd paints.

Now in thenext shot you'll see a DDS image converted from my copy of the paintkit psd. I have switched all the layers on, off, altered the merges. Nothing I can do brings the panel cover lines into view.

I use Corel Photopaint by the way - but that's never stopped me converting psd. Is anyone else missing these lines?

[edit] I have a feeling it could be the layer labelled "overlay", but the effect is not as pronounced. Besides, Corel seem to look at layer orders in a different way. Something I will have to figure a way to sort out after such a long absence.

The layer you're looking for is 'Overlay'. It's definitely on my copy of the paint kit. :?

EDIT: Note to self. Read the whole post!

Thanks Ron, I thought that may be it, but after opening into Corel, the panel outlines seem to have lost definition. That's just one of the things I have to do when repainting - adjust my "Corel Master PK" to take the differences into account.

Falls off chair...

As for PS - well basically anything Adobe can do, Corel can do just as good. OK, there's quirky bits between the two when you load a psd into Corel - like having to revers the order of layers. But PS can't open CPT images apparently. Please prove me wrong. Anyway, I've been using Corel Draw suite (paid up) since the very early 90's. I usually upgrade every second or third version once that new version has been out for around 12-18 months and the price has dropped.

Adobe used to have a cross-grade offer, but even then, that was more expensive than a new version of Corel. So basically, I am used to it. here's what I am working on now. The "red part of the flipflop is experimental, I am planning to make it have a three-way (dark-blue, light-blue, scarab green) tone in the under colour with true metalflake for the blues and mother-of-pearl for the whites. Chromalusion on steroids,

A paint job like that would cost more than the plane! :D Looking good.
