Here's a quick color coded reference to a few small parts I've been questioned about so thought I would post this here if your having trouble knowing what these are. I don't know every part yet just the obvious but these few questionable parts are laid out below.
PS, Mr Attwood... I heard you might of figured out how to paint the spinner? Can you please tell?
I noticed there are three other parts of the spinner below the main two parts in gray (see layout, top left corner).
I guess you would change the two grey parts back to white and then paint the three remaining parts below to make the spinner a colored spinner?? I'm just guessing here and of course edit the alphas too. Is this right?
Alan

Re: C182 PAINTKIT ((Small Parts Layout))
Alan, hi, I pondered editing the mesh layer with tags for parts as I find them, but thought 'to hell with it', after a couple of paints you get to know your way around eh? I KNOW that will be handy, no, VERY handy for some.
Spinner. Yep, alpha channel. What I've done is edit a copy of the alpha channel and saved it as painted spinner_ALPHA then I import it in DXTbmp.
In PS I made a copy of the 'Normal' layer edited it and hid the original. That hides the state badge and the chrome spinner bit.
Does that make sense? Sure as hell don't to me!
The whole of that top left corner gets painted.
P.S. The step on the wing struts got me going for quite a while. And where was it? Right under your nose!

Re: C182 PAINTKIT ((Small Parts Layout))
OK Ron thanks for that. I tried painting the whole thing and then reduced the alpha too as you normally would for any paint but then in the sim it looked like painted chrome (colored) but still had that chrome look to it like it was painted glass. I practically had no alpha either to produce any shine.
The alpha was less then whats on the default alpha layer so it was really light, almost white but still, the spinner had that colored mirror look so I'm curious as to getting rid of the colored polish look and just have it painted, shined normally like gloss paint. What am I missing? I noticed there are actually four pieces of spinner (6 Triangles) when normally you only need two parts to make a spinner any color, chrome or painted. One usually for animation and the other for no motion or static. So what are the other three pieces for on the bottom of the gray ones?? see what I mean? Or are they making the spinner out of four different sections?

Mmm, I simply coloured all of those 'triangles'.
Ah! Just seen the problem. The 'Normal' layer has a dark grey colour over the top triangles. In my copy of Normal I coloured it pale grey. Used that copy and hide the original.

OK I see, Yeah I didn't hide the original so then that tells me the original layer (modeled/built in Chrome) was bleeding through giving me that very mirro colored look coming through my actual paint layer. Never seen one modeled that way before. Makes sense now. Thanks Ron! Oh and uh awesome work on your paints!.

Actually, it was about getting rid of the chrome in order to have a painted spinner.

Oooooopppppsss.....Never mind.....Ron Attwood wrote:Actually, it was about getting rid of the chrome in order to have a painted spinner.
Not having used the 2 bladed version yet, the 3 bladed are all painted yes? So just adjusting/removing the part on the "Alpha'" should remove the chrome (2 blade)?

The two bladed spinner will be white whatever the three bladed one is. The three bladed will be chrome or whatever colour the painter has provided.CODY614 wrote:Oooooopppppsss.....Never mind.....Ron Attwood wrote:Actually, it was about getting rid of the chrome in order to have a painted spinner.

Confused?

Had the same question EightyFiftyFive..... They are for the 2 bladed prop. I have been trying to chrome them to match the upper set and it has been a nightmare.EightyFiftyFive wrote:So what are the other three pieces for on the bottom of the gray ones?? see what I mean? EDIT..... See that the answer was already given. Late for the party again!!!

I know, I had forgotten all about the two bladed prop. Not used to having that option LOL so the extra parts just side tracked me lol
