I think it's quite interesting that new information keeps coming out of the woodwork. Clearly, things weren't quite as standard as everyone thought. Makes life interesting for me too, as I still build scale models of WW2 fighters.

Agreed. The Spitfire is something special, and it comes out in the way A2A have modelled it, like no other simulated Spitfire I've flown.

Cheers,
Mike

Steve, that is a beautiful repaint! I really love these early Spitfires so much!

If I may, I do notice one thing that might use a little adjustment: if you look closely at the OP's second reference picture, you'll see that the underside of the aircraft (nose, fuselage, and horizontal stabilizers) are all a duller, more common shade of gray. It is only the main wing which is painted bright white. It is a little detail, but it becomes quite noticeable once you've seen it! That said, this is first rate, and I thank you for making it available to us.

Many thanks,

Joe

Ha! Thanks Joe. That will teach me. Not to work on two paints at once. It seems I forgot to turn a layer off when saving the N3200 main texture  It should be fixed now.

Cheers.
Steve.

Hi,

Just a very small point, if you look carefully at the underside of the aeroplane, the black and white wings extend into the first section of the underbelly engine cowling. Besides my rather picky and minor point, smashing repaint!

A Spitfire arrived around the end of the hangar at near enough 10ft slaloming though the dispersal pylons. He then landed, got out in a waist coat and suit trousers, unfold a suit jacket from the luggage hold and put it on. He was Sqn Ldr Ray Hanna.

 Detail detail. I'd like to think that if I had seen that picture I would have spotted that piece of cowling. As it is, thanks for that. I've now updated the texture to include that cowling.

All the best.
Steve.

That's right. 7z files are like zip files only more compressed. WinRar extracts them fine. Otherwise Google 7-Zip and you should find a free 7z file extractor.

Edit:
If you click on the picture in my signature below, you can find loads more for the Spit there, on my site.

Hey Steve.

Thanks for the heads up on the 7z file. My winrar didn't recognise it.
Beautiful paint job, thank you for sharing!!

Did you see my request for a MKIIb in RDAF colours(wink, wink, if you know what I mean, wink, wink)
:D
Kind Regards
Tomas

WinRar 5.10 can extract them but cannot make 7z files. I think your version must be older as I seem to remember having the same problem.

Yes, I did see your request. Unfortunately I have to ration my PC usage nowadays as according to "she who must be obeyed", I am spending too much time on it. If I can work it in I'll have a go but in the meantime, if someone beats me to it that would be fine.

Cheers
Steve.
