Stunning job there! Got no FS installed at the moment, due to recently formating my system, but this got me tempted to run for the discs!

This is superb. The main reason I've stayed away from the retro repaints (which I love in principle) is that they've felt mismatched to the relatively modern panel and interior. I expect I'll be getting a lot of use out of your cabin and panel - together with your fine exterior paint, and also with others. Really grateful for your talent and hard work.

Thanks to everyone for their kinds words. And I appreciate A2A taking a moment to share this thread on Facebook.

That is the exact reason I am making this. I much prefer retro paints to the generic RV graphics slapped on most aircraft since the 80's.

Hi,
How are you progressing with the project? I am really looking forward to your repaint especially that super interior.

Thanks for the interest! Here's a quick update...

The exterior repaint is done, as far as I'm concerned. I may take another pass and add a few grunge details, but this real-world aircraft is pretty darn clean.

Image

For the most part, I am done with the front side panels, front seats, carpet and console.

Image

Image

You can see here that I updated the microphone to match the beige Cessna branded one. I pulled the wood texture and Cessna logo directly from a mic listed on Ebay :wink: . To the left of the mic I will be placing 3 warning stickers, as they exist in the real N4635K. I have solid photo reference, but I will need to recreate all 3 before adding them to the panel.

Image

Maybe someone can help me with this? I updated the n-number on the instrument panel texture, but it doesn't update in FSX. Everything else does, but not that number. What am I missing here? Where do I edit this? I'm confused on this one.

Image

Here I need to update the rear side panels with some upholstery piping and chrome trim. Also need to finish the rear seats. Not exactly sure how I am going to approach this since the A2A model differs significantly from the real aircraft. I'm still fiddling with it.

Image

Once those are addressed, I will go back and add some dust and scratches and what-not, to the entire interior. Nothing major. I just don't want it to look brand spankin' new. After that, I will create the lowres interior texture that renders in the external view of the aircraft.

Finally, I will save an alternate version of this aircraft with a beige instrument panel cover, as seen in one of the reference photos. That shouldn't take more than a few minutes. And I keep forgetting to take some night shots for you guys, but I promise, the panel lights are working :D

If anyone has notes, please speak now.

I plan to wrap this up by next weekend, 03/09/14. Can't wait.

I like what your doing so far. Great job!

About the N number. You don't have to change it in the texture at all. Instead, all you got to do is change the atc_id code in the config file. Here's an example of what I have done in the past.

[fltsim.x]
title=C172R G-OOLE
sim=C172
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=G-OOLE
kb_checklists=C172_check
kb_reference=C172_ref
atc_id=G-OOLE
ui_manufacturer=A2A Cessna
ui_type="C172R Skyhawk"
ui_variation="G-OOLE"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="A2A Simulations Inc."
description=""

Sometimes, to see the result immediately, I also have to clear out the cache in...
C:\Users\<<user name here>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SimObjects

By deleting all the folders in the cache, FSX is forced to rebuild it when you next start it up.

Keep the faith. :wink:

Absolutely brilliant.Will you be able to download it as := 1) complete aircraft with black panel
2)complete aircraft with beige panel
3)red cockpit with black panel for any aircraft
4)red cockpit with beige panel for any aircraft
I hope this is not asking too much but if you can manage it I ,for one would really appreciate it.
Regards Chris
PS of course when I say any aircraft I mean any A2A cessna C172.

Wow... this is looking unbelievable! PM me if you want a nit-picky beta tester... 8)

This is looking to be the most comprehensive repaint since the original release, IMO... All we need is 40 degree flaps and carb heat! (I know A2A really does want to model this, right guys?)

Superb- thanks again for all your work.

No matter what download options BladderBoy provides, you can always mix and match your panels and interiors by copy/pasting the c172_c*.dds files from folder to folder. Almost all of my Cessna's have a unique interior due to this. I'm not entirely sure which file portrays which parts in the plane, but one of the repainters could surely let you know. If not trial and error works, that's how I did it.
