Hello guys! My name is Alex, (22 y/o Cherokee 140 owner, looking forward to the A2A release!) and I'm a novice repainting for FSX and P3D. Since I've noticed a lack of N-numbers, I've spend the past two days designing a font that matches 100% of most GA fonts. It is called "Avitype Semi-Round" and should replace Amarillo USAF as the default N-number font. I've uploaded it to the AvSim Prepar3d Misc Files section. It should be live soon, so just search for "Avitype" or "Alex Melia" and it should pop up. Here is what it looks like!
Thanks and I hope this is a valuable addition to the flight sim community, especially you guys repainting the C172 and soon to be Cherokee!

Lewis, this is only available at standard 20* right italics. I have the ability to make it straight, but it seems like these types of fonts are very rare.

Hey guys. If you want a straight one try this one I made a while back. It should be good for UK numbers.

Re: New Registration Font! 100% Authentic
At great risk of making myself very unpopular, can I just point out that what it 20 degrees left cant on one side is usually 20 degrees right cant on the other?
I did wonder, maybe you can tell me, as I have never tried to create a font, is whether you could have it canted 20 degrees left as the "normal" font and 20 degrees right as the "italic" variant within a single TTF. Is that possible?
Cheers,
Ian P.

No. As far as I can tell they have to be separate fonts. What I do at the moment, is to skew a straight font left or right in Photoshop.
What is possible in the same font, is to have the left canted font for the lower case and the right canted font for the upper case. I think I may have a go at that. Can anyone tell me if there is a regulation angle for aircraft fonts? I read somewhere that the maximum is 30 degrees.

Re: New Registration Font! 100% Authentic
I did a quick search a while ago and found the FAA guidelines for registrations - they were actually very vague and wishy-washy when it came to angles and sizes. The European codes are far more restrictive, so they're more likely to dictate what you can and cannot do, I'd think?
Skewing left and right is what I currently do as well - thankfully a fairly easy task in Photoshop. My font of choice for a while has actually been UK Number Plate, which is pretty good, in fact, when I can't draw them manually off a photo or something. I'm about to start another ported livery from a C152 (actually an A152) onto the C172 though, so I'll try yours and see how to goes.
Many thanks for your efforts!

Blade, common US angles are 15, 20, and 30 degrees. I have modeled the 20* slant.

Hmm. It seems that going for the middle ground of 20, I have duplicated your work then. Not to worry. I won't bother re-doing them because they can be easily adjusted, one way or the other, by a few degrees in Photoshop when needed.
