Hi Folks:
I have been trying to figure out the 99th FS cowl band, and failing miserably! The 99th had either a three- row smaller tilted blue and white check cowl band or a blue and white diamond check band.
Do you think this is possible, or am I just asking for headache and heartache?
Thanks!

Do or do not, there is no try.
I'm sure you can do it. (the 1st row from the left will be part of the spinner)

there are some mustangs out that have checkers on the noise you should take a look on how they did them. I did checkers for little witch it definitely is a hard process with out having a model to see your updates.

Thanks Guys:
Still no luck. I've tried using the the checkers from other folks repaints as a starting point, but it seems the smaller the checkers get, the more difficult it becomes to get them roughly the same size and matching the contours of the nose at it curves into the scoop and spinner. I haven't even tried to angle the checkers, yet.
I'm using Model Converter X to quickly see how the paint lines up on the model.
So frustration rules the day, but I'm thinking about how best to give it another shot!

one thing I found very handy while making the checkers, was to enable the first layer in photoshop (alpha layers, or something)
With this you can see how the model is built up and then I used this to tune the checkers on the model.
for instance like this: and you can then see where it corresponds in photoshop with the same lines.
