Repainters Sticky Thread

Post by Lewis - A2A »

The following links have been provided by the A2A Community in order to help fellow repainters and new comers. (They will be regular updated) If you would like to share anything interesting that you feel would be useful for others then please post so it can be added.

Programs required or used;
http://www.photoshop.com/
Photoshop is the program everyone had heard of. It is the industry standard and used by many repainters. A useful program even if an old version its been used for image manipulation since the very beginning.

http://www.gimp.org/
GIMP might not be the best name in the world, but it does what it says on the tin. It is quite simply the freeware alternative o photoshop. Because of the entry price, it is favoured by many and can even be configured to look like photoshop making learning using photoshop tutorials possible.

The Nvidia .dds plugin for photoshop enables you to use photoshop as a one stop shop for all repainting in the MSFS world. Allowing photoshop to open and save all the files in the formats required for use in the simulation.

The DXTBMP tool by Martin Wright has been one of the most useful tools by many repainters and because of this very few would not want to by Martin a pint for the creation of the tool. If one cannot use the .dds plugin above and at a time before the plugin existed the dxtbmp program was the key to being able to save textures for use in the simulator. A great tool used by many to make image conversion easy. Even if you are going to use the plugin above, the DXTBMP tool is still a must have and a great backup or vice versa to the plugin.
