First time repainting help?

Hi I'm atempting my first repaint heres how far i got

my question is could some one who has made an aircraft from the 357th fighter group post a picture of their aircraft in th paint kit to show me how they made the checkers and the prop hub? mine was just a guess.. I've been reading the tutorial but theres nothing in there about checkers

You might try opening one of the other 357th schemes in your paint program, then copy their scheme on to yours as a layer, then use it as a guide.

alright how do you copy and paste? layers I've already attempted that with checkers before

If using photoshop-

-Open the file and press cntrl-a (select all)

-Open your own repaint

-Select cntrl-v (paste)

-This will create a new layer over your repaint. Change the opacity so you can see through it and you can now use it as a template for how to draw your own checkers

Thank you ill give that a shot but when I tried to open gentleman jim it said ps could not open raw files..the link sent me to a page about digital cameras..could you explain this??

Do u have the plugin installed in photoshop? Check it is installed correctly. If not using the plugin you will have to use DXTBMP to convert the files.

hmmm i have it installed i'm not sure about having it installed in photoshop.. could you describe how to do that?

heres another problem when i try to open old crow so i can see the checker board red and yellow

it says file cannot be opened for it is a raw file or something like that..

As mention above. You need DXTBmp to open the dds files. http://fly.to/mwgfx/
It's free and a must have tool. Use it to convert dds to bmp and then back to dds. Make sure you save as DXT 5 with no mips. :wink:

when i tried to open Gentleman Jim through DXT It could not see it even though i made a new folder for the dds file and unzipped it...
