Percentage Flyouts have vanished from Cockpit interface

I'm referring to the flyouts that appear when you hold the mouse cursor over an instrument

So, for example, hold the mouse over the rudder trim tab and the value of trim should be displayed

Hold mouse cursor over fuel gauge and it will display how much fuel is in the tank

Hold cursor over throttle and it will display the power setting as a percentage

These flyouts have all vanished rendering the simulator unusable since I am flying virtually blind.

Anyone know what has caused this? I've never had this problem before

Hi Matt.

This is not an issue with your P-51. It's with the simulator. You need to have "cockpit tool tips" activated in your FSX settings.

Gremlins, probably. My only suggestion: in FSX try Options - Settings - Display - Aircraft and see if cockpit Tool Tips are turned on.

Something else which will cause you to lose the cockpit tool tips is running FSX in DX10 preview mode in full screen. However, if you use DX10 in windowed mode, the tool tips should still be visible. This seems to be one of the few DX10 glitches which is not resolved by the payware 'DX10 Scenery Fixer'.

Whatever the problem was it seems to have solved itself!!

I had the same problems with intermittent controls readout, plus airport runway flicker.

I unchecked "Preview DirectX 10", and both problems were resolved.

Yes the read outs don't work in default dx10 mode, though I've a feeling steves dx10 may have solved that fs bug, but please don't quote me on that one!
