Here in the past couple of days, I've noticed cockpit climate control doesn't work. REX on here in Texas, the ambient temp was 101 F, however, my cockpit was freezing with the canopy open?

Did you reload the plane after you started your flight? Many here have noticed that when starting a flight funny things can happen if you don't reload the plane... I got a continuous "Cabin is COLD" during one such flight.

As a matter of habit, I saved my default flight with a default aircraft, everything off. Such that it loads this way everytime I fire-up FSX, just to eliminate this as a cause for any woes I read about here, it did cure some oddness in the past, I forget the specifics.

I just completed a night time flight from KTPL to KOKC and the climate control worked, along with the fogging of my canopy. I think in the past, when flying up in the PNW at higher altitudes, the P-51's climate control leaves alot to be desired. Cockpit is always cold no matter how damn high I have the settings!

How high are you flying? I've found I can't completely shut the cold air or I get fogging but with it just cracked I can keep comfortable temps up to 30k ft, maybe 32k ft, depending on temps aloft.

Question to A2A, is it accurate to get fogging with the cold air shut if we have the heater vents open? I mean the air still comes from outside and after passing through the radiator the relative humidity of the now hot air would be lower, so I would assume that you would be less likely to fog with heat than with cold air... (thus the reason why the windscreen defogger uses hot air)

Can't help with Dave, not my area of expertise, however I do recall Dudley speaking about having to do a safety test in the P-51 once. In so many words he had said that at high altitude the cockpit was rather cold, regardless of what he had done. It should be tough to keep her warm at high altitude. Hence why the gentlemen flying these birds had nice comfy jackets and gloves. :)

It's funny..I just went up to 30k with the canopy open and absolutely no change in cockpit temp.

You certainly wouldn't do that in the real world. Air temperature at that altitude is somewhere around -50, not to mention lack of O2.

Definitely, but I had done it just to test a theory..I mean I know the cold doesn't physically bother me, however, I enjoy trying to keep my cockpit from fogging up.
