Hey, I found my P51 unable to start up today and nothing I could do helped it, so I removed the dat file to start again, All went well until I tried to load aftercoolant into the aircraft but the tank stays up for about 2 seconds and is emptied again, any ideas?

The FAQ instructions for this problem is to delete the file which just caused the problem in the first place, I tried to delete it again but the problem is still there.

All so you need to delete this one to FSXAccusim.dat

Well, whenever you clear a *.dat file you should be aware that the new *.dat file will only be stored (re-written) after the loaded A/C is saved. The correct way to restore the *.dat files is to:

1. Close FSX
2. Delete the *.dat file in question
3. Start FSX and load the model in question
4. When the model has completely loaded and is running, don't touch anything and shut down FSX
5. Restart FSX and fly !

This is the way I have found that everything works flawlessly thereafter. BTW I would delete the P51log.dat file which can be found here: C:\Users\"your name"\Documents\A2A\FSX\P51. This is the place where idividual fluid levels are stored.

And your last question: No, you can't destroy anything as long as you don't delete other than these *.dat files. However be aware that you should follow the above steps to make sure everything works properly again and also be aware of the fact that when deleting the A/C log-dat (such as the P51log.dat) you will lose your airframe and engine hours because they are store there. There is no means to preserve these data.

You need to delete two .dat files this is only if after the new core update didn't fix it
This one FSXAccusim.dat found here under C:\Users\your name\Documents\A2A
and this one P51Log.dat found here C:\Users\your name\Documents\A2A\FSX\P51

Hi Janick,
No of course you don't need to delete the *.dat files every time :D . The only thing is that you might need to properly follow the steps I described above. The reason why I tell you that is that I just tried it again with both of my installations and it still worked. Be sure you don't touch anything after the first load of the A/C. Just load the Mustang after deleting the files, wait a few seconds and then shut down. Now after reload everything should be fine - at least here it is :D

Another thing that I have observed is that people tend to think that aftercoolant is empty just because the magenta refill button "aftercoolant" is showing up. Can you confirm that also the tooltip of the reservoir is reading 0%? I might well be that it reads "5.0 USG 99%" as this already triggers the refill button.

Don't give up - we will fix your problem :D

OK, this is something interesting. I have found that after I tried to refill it for the first time ever (Core update 1.4 installed yesterday), it now drops instantly to 99%. It does not bother me, because I dont think it will affect the performance :D , but can you confirm that THIS is not a bug and can happen? I do not want to kill my hours again. There is also no leak of coolant shown.

BR,
E.

Yes, funny enough I have seen the same happen after updating to 1.4 core. It still shows 5.0 GAL but drops to 99% after approx. 1 sec. However that's where I reset my *.dat files and thereafter all was back to normal. Whatever it be, it's definitely nothing alarming as it looks very likey to be a simple rounding error. In my installation it is gone. I understand your point of not being willing to reset your flying hours. This is something each simmer takes indivdually. For us doing lot's of tests those things are of minor importance as we do many full reinstalls and therfore start from scrap many times

Thanks, Oskar, for your reply. Everything else is bug-free so long, so I will leave it then as it is.

E.

I can confirm this problem still persists. Prior to updating to 1.4, I had deleted both the Accusim.dat and the P51Log.dat files (with FSX not running), started FSX, loaded the Mustang, then shut it down, as instructed. After restarting and flying a few hours the aftercoolant couldn't be topped up. I left it, hoping it would be fixed in 1.4. After about 30 hours of flying I had lost 2lbs of aftercoolant which was unrecoverable. I installed 1.4, everything else was great, but I still couldn't top up the aftercoolant. So I thought ok, maybe it is fixed in 1.4, but i need to do the .dat deletion one more time. I did, as instructed, yet after 3.7 hours on a brand new airframe the problem is still happening. I don't want to gather a ton of airframe hours only to have to delete the .dat files and start all over again when the aftercoolant finally runs out.

I understand when the aftercoolant refill button turns magenta that does not necessarily mean it is empty. But even if I only need to top it up with a pound or two of aftercoolant, I should be able to, no?

Joe

Edit: Can anyone confirm that after they have deleted both .dat files and flown for a few hours, that after their aftercoolant turns magenta, clicking on it turns it white (full), and it stays white (full)?

Joe,

Hm, OK, this little bug continues to elude us. I do have another idea we'll try to see if we can reproduce what is happening on your system.

Scott.
