When I select cold and dark, it puts my plae in the proper turbed off, parked position. However, even though my gear and flaps are down, the hydraulic release level is open; in the video, Scott said to close it once pressure was released. Is this something that can be changed in the future?

Are you saying for us to pull the lever in cold and dark?

No, for it to be pushed in. Cold and dark has it pulled, so when I startup (and forget to push it in) my flaps and gears doors stay down.

Ah, I see. Hm, you have a point I think. I will need to run this by a few people to be sure. Scott.

Actually, I think in "Cold and Dark" config, the red gear door handle should be out. Apparently it has negative consequences if you leave it pushed in and the wheel doors are left closed between flights.

Normal cold and dark would have the flaps down and the fairing door release handle pulled out and down in a detent. I always left the fairing door release handle OUT when I left the airplane . You can push it back in after the system dumps but many Mustang pilots opt not to do that . It's a checklist item on engine start to check the handle in. (Assumes it was left out)
It's not critical either way. What I usually did on the engine start sequence was to reset the handle, start the engine then raise the flaps.

Thanks for the insight, Dudley. I had remembered Scott push it back in after it dumped the system, in a development video, and was wondering why there was a contradiction.

No big deal either way really. It certainly can be reset after the system dumps. My personal preference was to leave it out. I always felt doing that allowed the system to "breathe".
Most of the checklists simply say to pull it out on the shutdown and check for it being in during the pre-start. I can't remember ever seeing anything about resetting it after dumping the system but as I say, it's a choice. Resetting it does little until the engine starts again and the system pressures up.

Cold and Dark button hit, plane goes into Cold and Dark state, note: with flaps down coming back into the plane even after saving the flight as default will load plane with flaps up.
Shouldn't the flaps be down as there is no fluid is in the system ?

We don't support flight saving. Try to enable the "AUTO-C&D" feature. It will set your plane to cold and dark everytime you create or load a flight.

While I can see why you would say this if you follow a certain procedure flight saving does work. You must however load another flight (I load a save flight I have with the Razbam A-6E; you can use any save flight you want except the one you intend to fly), and then I load the bird I intend to fly (in this case it would be an A2A product). I have never had an issue doing this procedure, and it also ensures that every single switch is in exactly the same position you put it when you left the plane. I do not know how, or why this works. I recommend it though.

SHIFT+3 should pop up CONTROLS panel. Look for "AUTO-C&D OFF" at the bottom. Click it to enable the feature (let it read "ON"). Next time you enter your P51, you should get cold and dark aircraft.
