P-51 Civilian Mustang Circuit Flying

Post by adslucas21 »

Hi all,

Absolutely loving both the Piper Cherokee and P-51 Mustang and really starting to get to grips with the Piper.

One question, does anyone have any information on flying circuits in the P-51 Civilian Mustang? Basically there was a great video showing the power settings, speeds and flap usage for the Piper Cherokee in the pattern and this massively helped me understand how to properly land the Piper. At the moment I am struggling to get the right speeds, MP and RPM settings to set up a successful landing.

Thanks again for any help.

Adam

Hello adslucas21,
In my early days with the Civ I put together a tutorial for my squadmates on the things I had learned to that point. You might be able to glean some helpful info from it. She is a beautiful aircraft and deserves to be flown properly. I've improved my skills in her sense this video but the basics are there I believe.

Cheers
Roger

EDIT:   I just watched the video again.  It's been a few years and I can see that a lot has changed. After this video I found nVidia Inspector which helped me reduced/eliminated the dancing scenery objects as well as the jagged edges. My flying has been refined some and the simulator hardware has improved a great deal as well. Oh well...

Brilliant thanks for sharing the video. I will be definitely watching this a few times to help me improve my basics! I appreciate your help as it can be tricky when starting out learning this aircraft!

Thanks again.

Adam

Edit: Even so it's very useful whilst I am starting this awesome aircraft. Thanks again

Here is a later circuit at KDCA with newer hardware and much more time in the cockpit.
