Re: Kermie Cam P-51D
I learned how to strain the Mustang,
That the jumpseat replaces the aft fuel tank,
Where the tail-radar antenna is located,
And I learned that you pull the hydraulic release valve to prevent inadvertent retraction of the landing gear.
Because the A2A Mustang is so realistic, everything else is pretty much 'regular operations.'
Also, I retract my flap lever after engine start, while he does it before... I'm going to do it that way now

Re: Kermie Cam P-51D
I had Kermie Cam videos playing in the background for several hours while working last night (it's hard to get anything productive done that way).
One thing I picked up on which I've never given much thought to is that he sets his trim tabs for takeoff as he's taxiing in after a flight. Obviously he checks/sets them before each flight but if you were to forget for some reason this seems like a pretty good practice to get into.
I also learned in one video with a copilot, as they were on final he mentioned to him that the lowest legal altitude he can fly over the interstate is 17 feet!

I forgot to mention, my Mustang is also "based" at fantasy of flight. I park it in front of the main building, and do my run-up in the same location, facing the same direction, at the end of the same runway.
It was a strange experience watching Kermie do a lost the same thing.

I loved his statement about the minimum altitude. I wrote it down so as not to forget it.AviationAtWar wrote:

I suppose I would tooKermit Weeks: "The legal FAA altitude over the interstate is 17 feet. Sometimes I make sure I do that in the P-51".
I would like to see Kermit take some cues from Steve at Flight Chops and add a few more stationary cameras and some better audio capturing equipment. Oh well, they are still great videos and I did not know about the gear lockout system. Missed that in the manual I guess.
