Re: Swiss Mustang Repaint
Great to see a German Mustang. Let me see that I can get this one done this weekend. A nice one for me too. Civ or Mil?

Re: Swiss Mustang Repaint
Not sure if you want specific repaint or a Swiss mustang but theirs a few Swiss repaints out there from various authors. From the top of my head I seem to recall Tom Weiss did one so looking on LockOnFiles website should provide you a link to download a Swiss livery.
thanks,
Lewis

BTW I used the Civ version, but can always change it to the Mil version as well.

Re: Swiss Mustang Repaint
Thanks for your kind words.
Research revealed that the plane had be resold a few times and that Reg actually had 3 paint schemes.
2007: sold, D-FPSI, Meier Motors, Bremgarten Germany
2009: sold, D-FPSI, Christoph Nöthinger, Freiburg Germany
2009: polished, new paint, "Lucky Lady VII"
I will do the other 2 variants as well, time permitting!

Re: Swiss Mustang Repaint
Here is some background on this specific airframe:
It was originally manufactured just early enough to be shipped to the Mediterranean Theatre (more specifically, Italy) in the spring of 1945. Following VJ-Day, it was sent back to the US where it was put into storage. With the Korean War call-up in 1950, the aircraft was overhauled and served within various State-side ANG squadrons throughout the 50's, before being retired from the Air Force in 1957 (as with all Mustangs that were still in USAF inventory). The aircraft then was sold to the Nicaraguan AF, where it only served for a short time before being sold back into the US on the civilian market. The aircraft was operated by a few different owners in the US from the 60's to the 80's, including many years owned by "Junior" Burchinall. In the late 80's, the aircraft was purchased by Charles Church and imported into the UK, and painted in 4th FG markings as "Suzy". The aircraft passed through a few different owners in the UK, over the next two decades, remaining as "Suzy", until it was sold to MeierMotors in Germany in 2007, at which time the paint name had recently (and briefly) been changed to "Darlin Ann". After paint-stripping the aircraft, and performing in-depth maintenance and overhaul of the aircraft, it re-emerged in a polished bare metal factory-fresh ("delivery") paint scheme. In 2009, the aircraft was sold to a (Swiss businessman) Christoph Nöthinger, who, keeping the aircraft on the German register, has both based/flown the aircraft around Germany and Switzerland. Since 2009, the aircraft has been painted in the authentic markings of "Lucky Lady VII", which served with the 364th FG, 385th FS, 8th AF. Last year, marking the 100th Anniversary of the Swiss AF at the Payerne airshow, the aircraft was put into the temporary markings of a Swiss AF P-51D (permanent markings of "Lucky Lady VII" simply covered-over). Following the airshow, the temporary markings were removed, and it has remained as "Lucky Lady VII".
Currently the aircraft is for sale (brokered by MeierMotors - which did the most recent restoration work and all maintenance since it has being based in Germany/Switzerland): http://meiermotors-aircraftsales.com/in ... vii-d-fpsi
Many detail photos of the aircraft (and more information), here: http://www.crazyhorseap.be/Mustangs/Mus ... D-FPSI.htm

Re: Swiss Mustang Repaint
Thank you very much for this interesting and very valuable information.
"Lucky Lady" is on my to do list.
With your information I have enough details to create this paint.
