Great work on the Radio Head Ed!
The internals of those are virtually indestructible As you have found, clean off the "gunk" and you are away.

P-51D cockpit build
Re: P-51D cockpit build
Hello everyone
The latest work on the pit has been external with some reinforcing support from inside. I'm not that comfortable working with sheet metal so you will see there are a few "kinks" that need to be worked out. It's not complete but it's getting there. On the good side, no band aids were required for this section!
Take care
Ed

Re: P-51D cockpit build
Thanks guys!
That joint to the left front seems a little wide. Do you know why?

Re: P-51D cockpit build
Regarding the larger than usual gap toward the front in the pic above you probably thought "He gave up in frustration, said the Hell with it and just screwed the panels in place."
That is almost true, I don't like sheet metal. But wait, there's more! (Heard that somewhere on TV)
Due to my advancing age, I will officially be an adult (in years not mentality) tomorrow when I turn 65; I have planned for the future.
Take care

Re: P-51D cockpit build
Hello everyone
In the beginning of this build two years ago, this was my test assembly for size. At that time I planned to use a 32 inch TV for the main screen.
During the recent holidays we decided to replace our 46 inch TV with a 65 inch unit and I grabbed the 46 unit for my pit. Here you can see the original 32 in front of the 46.
Last weekend I painted the cowling, made the modifications to fit the larger screen and added more detail to the left side. Today I put them together to see how they look and fit. Here are a few pics of the latest modifications.
Take care
Ed

Nicely done. One thing I've learned already about TVs is that you cannot go to big
