A copy of something I posted at SimHQ...

Got my Accu-Feel and it really does add to the sim. It's great how the seemingly small visual/audio cues make the default aircraft come alive.

I'm keen to see how this develops.

Something I'm wondering about is tyre (tire if you must) screech. With my landing technique I get the occasional bounce. I'm not sure if the subsequent wheel touchdowns should cause a screech since the wheels would be spinning... Either no screech or a lower pitch?

Don't do much RL flying so I'm not too sure.

Does FSX model wheel rotation speed beyond either a stopped or moving state? I assume there is some variation since wheels speed visually seems to match taxi speed.

Anyway, just a thought.

The tire screech physics and sound in Accu-Feel is actually based on tire rotational speed when you touch down. So if you bounce up, the tire would have to slow before touching down again to get a big screech.

Scott.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the reply!

I'll have to play around with that. It didn't seem like I was getting that behaviour or at least not to a degree that I noticed much difference between screeches.

I'll take another look at the video you posted, too.

Cheers!

Don't forget that the tires only get a short surface contact during a bounce and that the aircraft speed can change quite a bit during the airtime until the next touchdown, possibly with a considerable difference between tire rotation speed and ground speed, which would account for subsequent screeches.

I just bought Accu-Feel and been trying it on my regular mount, the Plane Design Lancaster (developed for FS9, but flies well in FSX, though I'm guessing it wasn't one that you folks tested with !) With reference to the tire screech - the Lanc is a tail-dragger, and I'm finding I only get the tire screech on tail-wheel touch down, not on the main wheels. Any reason for this ?

It could be an issue with using an FS9 aircraft in FSX, ill ask Eddie, the designer of the lanc as he's a personal friend, if he did anything special with the main wheel contact points.

Thanks Lewis - Give Ed my best regards. He will recall I did quite a bit of testing for him a couple years ago.
