figured out the problem. this is a new computer, and id never used the notepad program with it, so it was automatically giving me the option to connect to the internet and find a compatible program for the dll file, or I can manually choose to select a program already on my computer (like notepad) which I have now done... but that doesn't explain why the programs on the internet turn into viruses.

Well if it's CCleaner it's not a virus but a cleaner and will pop each start to let you now how much temp files you have that can be cleaned.

Accu-feel by default is turned off whenever an Accu-sim aircraft is selected as it's not needed for the Accu-sim aircraft which already include it + much much more.

Thanks,
Lewis

Here is the information from the FAQ:

The FSX Add-On / Accu-Feel Setup pull down menu is missing.
1. Using a text editor like Notepad, open your C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml file and verify these entries exist:
(If you cannot find the dll.xml, In WINDOWS, open your CONTROL PANEL / Appearance and Personalization / Folder Options / View / then click on "Show hidden files, folders, and drives)

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>A2A Feel</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

However the Steam edition didnt come with the dll file by default so it must either be manually created OR you can wait for the next Dovetail FSX Steam edition update which is due to add it in. Please see the Dovetail news on this and other features of the new update.

thanks,
Lewis
Thank you Lewis! I see this is an older thread. I recently started using FSX SE and your fix here did the trick for me.

There is also a dll.xml file located at C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\ConfigData\AppData. Originally I revised this file and it did not work. Should I remove your entries from this file? Or do they need to be in both files...?

Thanks!
