Hello Gav,

Yes, but you will have to manually add the relevant lines to the new dll.xml file. Heres the lines;

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>A2A Feel</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

thanks,
Lewis

Here is the information from the FAQ:

The FSX Add-On / Accu-Feel Setup pull down menu is missing.
1. Using a text editor like Notepad, open your C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml file and verify these entries exist:
(If you cannot find the dll.xml, In WINDOWS, open your CONTROL PANEL / Appearance and Personalization / Folder Options / View / then click on "Show hidden files, folders, and drives)

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>A2A Feel</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

However the Steam edition didnt come with the dll file by default so it must either be manually created OR you can wait for the next Dovetail FSX Steam edition update which is due to add it in. Please see the Dovetail news on this and other features of the new update.

I'm having no luck at all getting AccuFeel 2 (the upgrade version) to work with FSX Steam. Here's what I have done so far:

- I've copied the dll.xml and exe.xml files provided by Dovetail into the AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX directory
- Ran (as administrator) the installer for AccuFeel 1, then the installer for AccuFeel 2. Both finish successfully
- Confirmed the entries for both DLLs have been added to dll.xml, and those DLLs exist in my FSX/Modules folder
- Added the FSX location to my MS Security Essentials exclusion list
- Ran the game (as administrator)
- I received notifications about both DLLs being installed as it started up, and accepted both
- Go into the default free flight, and there's no "Addons" menu option, not do there seem to be any Accu Feel effects happening

This is with an brand new clean copy of FSX (when it didn't work the first time I uninstalled AccuFeel and FSX, and manually removed any lingering files). It is located on my secondary hard drive, simply in D:\Games\Steam - so there should not be permissions problems.

If it is of any use, here is a copy of my dll.xml, though I'm pretty sure it is exactly as it should be: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/683235/dll.xml

Am I missing something? Any help greatly appreciated!

An update to the above post - I later tried to install REX and it similarly failed to work, and in their support fortress they suggested installing the version of simconnect that comes with REX (I'd previously tried installing the one supplied with FSX SE to no avail). I did that, and not only did it make REX work, it also enabled the addons menu and AccuFeel now shows up.

Now I may not be totally out of the woods, because I opened the AccuFeel menu and it displayed for a second and then the game hung - but at least I'm a bit closer!

Hey Aaron,

Is your FSX steam edition up to date and if installed since prior to the last update have you recently verified your files?

Yeah - my latest clean install was made last night, so after their most recent update. I uninstalled and then manually cleaned every trace of FSX and any addons I'd had previously.

I snuck in a quick test at lunchtime and, with the new simconnect install from REX (as I mentioned above), I now have AccuFeel appearing in the menu and not crashing when I access the controls - perhaps it didn't crash because this time I tested without REX active. Didn't have time to check it out more thoroughly, but I'll be doing some more tonight so can report back then.

Anyway, the basic take away from my problem seems to be that the simconnect version provided with FSX SE (even if you manually install it from the SDK subfolder) just isn't compatible with at least AccuFeel and REX.

I can confirm it is compatible but you have reminded me that an old un-updated REX product was not compatible without updates as it caused crashes and black screens with any other menu based addons including Accu-feel. Also don't forget to install the latest version of Accu:feel

Thanks,
Lewis

Ah - that's a good point, I totally forgot to grab any updates for REX. It's a wonder it's working at all!

The fix you have provided through (cleanreg) I have downloaded previously and ended up rebooting and reinstalling my whole operating system because it was acting like a virus. Continuously popping up and telling me my computer has hundreds of errors when it was a bran new computer with none... And slowing it down more then helping... Is this the only fix for accufeel? Is there another way you could come up with?... I'm sad I have my bran new comanche but no accufeel. :( please help!

Hello,

not sure what you refer too as the fix for the common issue is a manual edit of the xml.dll (see the troubleshooting FAQ). The Comanche comes with Accu-sim so Acu-feel which is a hint of Accu-sim is not needed.

I feel like there is still a big difference in wind physics with accufeel, and ground control is improved even more correct? I followed all of the steps above, and when I get to the dll file, it acts as a link to the internet... giving download options such as "cleanreg" and saying it will fix all registry errors if you download. with big FREE DOWNLOAD letters, and what looks like fake Norton approved logos and such....
