Autopilot

Post by jjsemperfi »

I can't get the autopilot to work every time. Sometimes I'll hit Z and it will hold heading and altitude and sometimes it won't.

The P40 didn't have an autopilot. It shouldn't work at all.
Sorry I couldn't be much help.

Someone posted a link for a 'vintage' autopilot with installation instructions.

It works well in the P-40 but is a 2D pop-up panel.

Here is the link to the thread in the other P-40/Tomahawk topic:

Actually it worked for me yesterday. Stock A2A P-40B, I hit Z and the thing flew straight and level. I think you have to be before 25" MP for it to work though.

The secret with using the FSX default autopilot is to turn the radio on.
On longer flights I use control t to hold altitude and control h to hold heading.
