This is a weird thing for me and I'm sure it's just a setting somewhere but I can't find it.
This is affecting me in the P40 and also in the Spitfire
When I open the canopy on the ground, it closes right away without me clicking on anything. Or it just plays the sound and doesn't actually animate opening at all. When I'm in the air, no problem.
Very strange. Any ideas? I'd like to be able to open the canopy on the ground.

Re: Canopy won't stay open on the ground
This is definitely a different sort of problem!
My first wild guess is, if you have a custom button/keystroke set up for opening or closing the canopy, make sure it's not set to repeat or toggle.
Are you using the default Shift + E to open the cockpit, the 2D popup panel's "Canopy" button, or the clickable handle in the virtual cockpit? Does the problem happen with all three methods?
I'll be interested to see what the solution is for this.
Good luck,
-Ian

I've been using the clickable cockpit to do it. I'll try using a bound key and let you know.

Re: Canopy won't stay open on the ground
Just tried with Shift-E bound to the Open Doors key in settings and same thing is happening.
It's happening with and without Track IR turned on...
So, not sure. I've deleted ALL key bindings in FSX except for a couple.
Like I said, it works fine in the air...but on the ground it's acting like this.
Not sure how to find the 2d pop 'canopy' button.

Hey are you parked near the fuel stop? There's an fsx bug that causes this. Try parking further away.

Thats it,Hoots wrote:Hey are you parked near the fuel stop? There's an fsx bug that causes this. Try parking further away.
if you park on a refueling area, this causes your canopy problem on every FSX plane.

You know what, that's probably it! I was near a fuel point when this was going on.
Cheers!

I had the same problem recently when I parked/ saved/ reloaded later, and it drove me crazy. Everything was fine at the next airport though. It's good to have an explanation as to what might have caused this.
