I'm not sure if my rudder pedal controls are funky (certainly very possible), or what, but the rudder movement inside the cockpit compared to viewed outside does not match. What I mean is that when in the cockpit, the animated rudder pedal in the game is equal to my actual range of motion on my rudder pedal controller. However, when viewed externally, the animated rudder stops moving when my actual pedals have about 25% or so movement left, eg. I can push my feet ahead a bit but not see any actual movement on the plane's rudder. Because the rudder movement is precisely equal to my full range of input in the cockpit, I think it might be more than just my controllers being out of sync? Not, that big of a deal since everything matches up in the virtual cockpit, but was just curious since I have been spending more time viewing the P-40 externally as I work on some paints.

I know this sounds strange, but the same thing happened to me with the b-17 - I found the autopilot yaw switch was on. Since there is no such thing in these aircraft, there's no way to turn it off. I tried starting dead/cold in a cessna, starting up, using autopilot, shutting all down back to dead/cold and switching to the 40 to no effect. Rather than mess any further, I saved the current p-40 flight (semicolon), paused the flight, opened the saved file in text (C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\[filename.FLT], found the autopilot section and changed all settings to FALSE:
[AutoPilot.0]
MasterSwitch=False
WingLeveler=False
Nav1Lock=False
HeadingLock=False
HeadingValue=112
AltitudeLock=False
AltitudeValue=13500
AttitudeHold=False
AirspeedHold=False
AirspeedValue=45
MachHold=False
MachValue=0.070000000000000007
VerticalSpeedHold=False
VerticalSpeedValue=0
RPMHold=False
RPMValue=0
GlideslopeHold=False
ApproachHold=False
BackCourseHold=False
YawDamper=False
ToGa=False
AutoThrottleArm=False
GPSdrivesNAV1=False
IsUsedForLesson=False
----------------------
...then saved the file and restarted the P-40 flight where I left off ([CTRL] semicolon)
Hope this helps.
Dave
