Just for the record, I have this same braking problem in both the P-40 and the B-17. It is wonderful to finally find a solution, as this has been bugging me very badly. I have spent HOURS tweaking my registered version of FSUIPC since getting the B-17 over a year ago, only to get even more frustrated when this problem cropped up on the P-40. Interesting observation though...I also own the A2A Spitfire, and do NOT have this braking probelm. Things that make you go hmmmm....

Greetings All,

Okay, I have noticed something interesting. Pressing "." for full brakes, shows "Differential Brakes" instead of "Brakes". Any ideas? This is using the default FSX Controls, no FSUIPC.

Check your maintenance hanger and see if you have any brake related issues.

Here is how this was explained to me: Let's say you have your brakes 'worn' on one side, so you click on it in the maintenance hangar to repair it. You think that it gets repaired to 100% and that meanwhile the brakes on the other side are still at 100% because they are not showing up as an item in the maintenance hangar, right? But actually that is wrong. It might not get repaired to "factory new". Meanwhile, the brake on the other side has a bit of wear and tear on it as well, but not enough to show up in the maintenance hangar. Thus you might get a situation where one of the brakes is at 95%, and the other one, newly repaired, is 98%, and there are no indications on the maintenance hangar. Fully depressing the brakes will therefore still cause a differential brakes message. I was advised to ignore it.

The only way you will be able to restore your aircraft brakes to Virgin status is to do a Complete Overhaul. You will notice that if you do this, the differential brakes message will go away for a short period of time.
