Damage

Post by robert41 »

Has anyone tried moving to another airport and gotten damage to the aircraft?
I started a flight at one airport, idling fine on the runway, and used the go to airport. When I got there, I had much damage. Bent prop, broken landing gear, one mag bad, starter bad, supercharger bad, oil leaks, hydraulic leaks, 2 cylinders with no compression, bad main bearings.
Next time I'll shut down first and see what happens.

No, but twice now I've loaded my go-to P-40 (Taylor) and it has shown one of my landing gear to be in the red. Despite really awesome landings, if I do say so myself 8)... I was wondering if I was doing something wrong with the hydraulic system and damaging the gear that way...

Robert, my only guess is you are using an addon airport, perhaps where the sim gets the altitude wrong when you switch, thereby crashing the airplane... try the same airport switch with a different plane (Accu-sim if you have one)... see if you register a crash.

I'd say you need a new virtual ferry pilot.

Gotta be careful when switching airports. If it loads incorrectly, the elevation data could be borked, and it only takes a second for the plane to drop dead. I had this happen once when switching cameras on accident. When I got back to my plane, the textures were still loading and my plane was sitting like 50 feet above the tarmac.

The best way to switch airports is to pause prior to switching. I find this helps alleviate issues.

Thanks guys. Pause or cold start works. No more damage.
