Right...idling indications on my Tachometer.
AVG 500 then dies.
40B 650 then smoothly accelerates to successful t/o.
40C 450 then dies.
11B 550 then dies.

Re: reinstaaling
Yes, sounds like you're allowing the engine to idle at too low an RPM, and the A2A simulated spark plug fouling is getting you.
It's a bit of a balancing act between the need to keep the idle speed as low as possible with a cold engine and cold oil (to prevent engine wear), but not so low that it quits. Try advancing your throttle a bit when parked to keep the RPM somewhere in the 700-1000 range, gradually increasing RPM as the engine warms up.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: reinstaaling
I agree with Nick on the idle speed. I usually start 155 at just under 1,000 rpm and let her idle at 800 to 850 or so for a while until she's running smoothly. After the temps start coming up and the oil pressure is in the green arc, I let her idle at 1,000 rpm and start to taxi to the runway. She's usually warm enough for the run-up by the time we get to the end of the runway. Great airplane!

Re: reinstaaling
Yes, you are idling too low there and will have engine issues.
thanks

Re: reinstaaling
This morning's results, having checked each aircraft through the maintenance hangar before attempting to start.
P-40 AVG runs up to 300 on the tachometer and then dies.
P-40 B ran perfectly.
P-40 C idled around 500 then died.
!!B idled at 525 then died.
Each of those who quickly gave up the ghost did so despite my advancing the throttle. they died on me VERY rapidly, after some five seconds or so.
There appear to be some seriously minded gremlins about.
So now what? Enjoy the B variant and be grateful?

Re: reinstaaling
Ah...the stupidity of some would be pilots.
With the fuel tank selector switched to Reserve, the Sh-4 check showed that tank to bed EMPTY!
Now it's full to the brim and every single aircraft is running perfectly.
What a wally.
Me, Lewis not you. Thanks so much. Now I might even manage a beer before lunch.
Hoorah!
