Had to have some of that fine fried chicken from that Darrington IGA deli. The J-3 was too slow. Not sure about the Comanche, if she can make it into Darrington Field or not. Only one way to go: the P-40! Here we are heading up the valley, toward Darrington:
Outside view:
Time to slow her down. Throttle back, nose up, canopy open. Fuel on reserve. Now she's slow enough for gear down. A touch of flaps. Approach is towards a mountain. Throttle back in, to maintain 110 or so. Turn to base. Descent rate OK. About 90 or so. Things were happening kinda fast. Got her down on one piece. Taxied across the "lawn" as I know my P-40 can take that kind of stuff. Parked her right here:
Got her shut down -
Saved the flight. She'll get me outta there, no sweat.

Re: IGA Fried Chicken
The chicken at the Darrington IGA is great! Best that I know of. IRL, I ride up there on my motorcycle, get a couple thighs, and a Dr. Pepper, and sit out on the front bench, looking up at Whitehorse Mountain. Nothin' like it!
