Breakin' the law

Post by Paughco »

Forgot all about that rule where you gotta be IFR if you fly above 18,000 feet. Topped up the fuselage tank and flew from Billings, Montana (KBIL) to Wenatchee, Washington (KEAT) in the P-40. It was a bit louder than the Comanche, but we were moving along quite a bit faster. I put on the oxygen mask and climbed her up to 21,600 feet. Ever see a P-40 pulling a contrail? Well, here it is:

Passed over Spokane:

Then started looking for a place to land on the east side of the mountains, as Pugetropolis was pretty socked in. Decided that Wenatchee looked good. Managed to get her down in one piece:

The Comanche is great. But I am here to tell ya, there is nothin' quite like that P-40!

Just pretend it's 1940 and you're on patrol. You can fly as high as you want and as fast as you want under 10k
