Of course those are known survivors, there could still be other P-40's, P-40B's and P-40C's somewhere in the world, either underwater, in a jungle, or buried at some farm in whereverland. The first Beechcraft Staggerwing was crashed somewhere in the midwest, and the farmer whose land it crashed on, dug a ditch and buried the plane there. Many years later, the plane was recovered (basically a serial number plate and some metal), and fully rebuilt at Santa Paula Airport, where I saw it for a few years, before it was sold to the Beechcraft museum (the restorer died of cancer). They are still uncovering plane wreckages and undetonated bombs from WWII, and I wouldn't be surprised it they don't keep turning up for another couple decades. Perhaps not all P-40s, but lots of valuable warbirds.

As for being buried in the ice....Thats a good question.....I know that their are still 5, P-38s and 2, B-17s still in the Glacier where they retrieved Glacier girl.....According to the story about them the others were to badly damaged and the cost was way higher then expected for a full recovery of all the planes......
I know their is a plane in salton sea....Dont remember if it is a SBD, or a TBM, and lake mead has a B-29 in it.....And not long ago their was a SBD retrieved from a river.....
