I'm picking you guess what happened here... Cruising along at 21k', zoom started going weird (which I put down to the mouse wheel, so didn't react appropriately - human factors at work), screen blacked out. External view told the story. Climbed a bit, gently rolled right, eventually into a spiral and hit the ground at +300mph. No crashes on in sim, so bounced a couple of times. Eventually came to. Engine spitting black and blue smoke. Only two bung cylinders as a result... Was expecting much, much worse.

Didn't wind the oxy altitude up as I went, did I? I did have it on, otherwise I probably wouldn't have got that high. I remember in the Spit, since it's pretty front and centre. Mustang has auto, so just have to remember to have it on. Most of my recent warbird time has been on the Mustang, so I'd become a bit complacent.

Will try not to do that again.

And then, of course, there is the matter of the 3-position gear switch on the B-17G and
a failure to return that switch to 'neutral' after raising the gear. In which case 'one
click' or one 'G' is not enough to avoid the embarrassment of a gear up landing!

(I now have a Lua script that takes care of that condition! 8) )
