B377 COTS no engine noise in cockpit or in outside view

Post by captnmel66 »

I just had to redo my home pc and have been slowly installing my FSX add on's. I just did COTS and noticed that it has to be the quietest aircraft in my hanger. Even when the engines are running and I do an external view I could hear a pin drop. I have run the updater 2 times now and still have the problem. I can hear the crew just fine as well as clicking on switches. I switched to the FSX Baron and can hear it just fine so I figured it was not FSX giving me this problem but instead my B377 COTS. Any help would be great because I miss the sound of those old round engines!!

It seems like you are having a Simconnect problem. Look through the forum — there must be instructions on how to install it. Maybe you should try starting FSX with admin privileges.

WOS_B377_V2_Full followed by A2A_update_05_09_16

I had to install simconnect for a virtual airline acars to work and all I did was click the installer, never messed with any of the simconnect settings.

Thanks for the replies, I'm trying to get things sorted out

Also, I'm running the boxed version of FSX and not the steam version.

How are you sound settings in FSX?

Also when you say redo, what do you mean?

I had to restore my computer to new status and then did a clean install of FSX and A2A B377 COTS. my sound is set at Engines: 100%, Cockpit: 50%, Environment:51%, Voice: 51%, sound device is speakers/headpones and voice is also speakers/headphones. play user interface sounds is checked and so is play user interface music with music set at FSX01. Again, when I load the default FSX cessna or Baron I can hear everything normally but when I load COTS all I really hear are the crew talking and the apu running. I go to external and it is the quietest 4 engine radial engine aircraft out there... nothing...

Now I've noticed I have no instrument back lighting or panel lighting during night operations. I have the Flight 1 GTN installed and I have even taken that out to make sure that wasn't causing the sound or light problems... :(

guess I should also say that I start FSX with a default FSX aircraft then I load A2A COTS. only thing left for me to do is to uninstall it one more time and reinstall it again.

I will say that I originally bought Wings of Silver and accusim COTS from simmarket. Just curious if I should install wings of silver first then try the update then install the COTS followed by running the update again?

Capt, 377 base pack followed by the COTS expansion and finish with the all-in-one update.

Hello,

still a little confused. Can you let me know what you mean when you say
"I had to restore my computer to new status"

Do you mean full HD format and windows OS install or using a 3rd party recovery process as comes with some pre-packaged PC builds?

thanks,

I have an HP Pavilion home pc, it has a restore process that when you activate it it takes your computer back to the status it was when you first bought it. It wipes the hard drive of all of your data and restores it to new, when you turn it on you have to go through all the set up and accepting of Terms etc etc. Nothing that I had stored on the hard drive was there that I had downloaded etc etc...

ok, I have these files:

wos_b377
wos_b377_v2_full
A2A_Update_05_09_16

what order should I try and install them??

thanks

ok, I installed the files in the order of my last post and everything seems to be working quite well. I'm going to try and install the Flight 1 GTN750 now and see if that is what is messing it up.

is there a way to add a basic Baron Autopilot to the B377?? just curious because I do long hauls with this plane and sometimes I need it to do a slow climb at say 300fpm and using the pitch wheel can be very tedious at times. Also the Baron autopilot would be able to capture altitude and then hold it allowing me to step away without fear of climbing past assigned altitude.

Thanks for all the help on this install, you all are a great help here

For realism sake you could stick to the correct auto pilot and then use the AFK feature to have the sim pause upon the the setting you set.
