That sounds pretty good! Maybe we can do that instead of the new zealand thing? It sounds much more fun!

I ran it yesterday at 61", 3,000 RPM. It took 52 minutes 41 seconds, and burned 154 gallons.

Whenever you like. It's a work-in-progress. I just put it up here because the P3D Mustang came out and I thought there might be a lot of people looking for somewhere to play :D

I think ill take down the NZ flight, and you can post the race for that date.

If you do, be sure to mention the fact the race is replacing the NZ flight

Oh, and I was looking forward to the NZ flight! OK, I'll post a final version for the 9th of September. In the meantime, if anyone has any input or observations . . .

I just prepared my flight plan for the race. Then I prepared another flight plan, from Coventry (where we ended up at the end of the last MP flight) to Oberpfaffenhofen.

Dunno if I like the idea of running my engine flat out at 61" MP for the whole flight, as max continuous is 46" at 2,700, according to the book. We'll have to see how those other guys' engines hold together at a steady 61" and 3,000 rpm, I guess.

It felt like abuse at the time, but I saw no ill effects from running for almost an hour at those settings. A little more oil and coolant used than usual, but I can afford it, and I'm sure it wears out the engine much faster, but it's (probably) not going to blow during the race. Just make sure all your fluids are topped up, run a compression check, and tweak the cylinders individually before you start.

Awesome! Its gonna be great!

How do we start this fairly though? A lined up running start on the runway? A lined up start in the air?

From the original instructions: "Standing start from Runway 22, or the grass to the right."

I took part in a Sim Outhouse transcontinental race a few years ago. We started from Long Beach in a big gaggle on the ground and just sort of swarmed into the air. It works well enough with collisions off, and I don't see our crowd forming even a half-way decent line abreast formation. :D

Or we could try a Le Mans-style start, sprinting to our aircraft, starting the engines, and roaring off.
