Briefing, Spitfire flight around Western Netherlands, Sunday July 1st
It is highly recommended that you have either Orbx Netherlands (payware) or NL2000 (freeware) installed.
both are quite excellent photo VFR renditions of the whole of The Netherlands
NL2000 is not yet optimized for for P3Dv4.2 though. It will work but will also give an FPS penalty.
On the upside, the airports in NL2000 are spot on to their real life counterparts, where those in Orbx are not.
One could to the combination dance, setting up the NL2000 fields in Orbx Netherlands by renaming field bgl's ... but Im on orbx NL only.
edit: you can find and download NL2000 freeware here: https://www.nl-2000.com/nl/2010/05/nl20 ... -locaties/

There will be a flight leaving from the starting field "same time" probably staying near the coast but we can discuss where we want to go during the flight and we can fly the planned route next week

I will be there also! Our assigned launch time is 18:30 Zulu, which is 11:30 Pacific Daylight Time in the Seattle area and 20:30 Amsterdam time. I was thinking that it might be good if we all agreed on the same virtual time for our flight. It might be still light enough for our flight at 20:30 local given the time of year and relatively high latitude. Plus, according to SkyVector, the weather looks pretty good in our planned AO, so I think I'll use real weather and set my time for Zulu time +2 hours. OK - I just set it up. A2A MkIIa Spit at EHMZ, real weather, local time 20:30. Still plenty of light left.

What a great flight we did. Took off from EHMZ Midden Zeeland, following the coast up to Texel Island, flew around it, crossed the Wadden Sea again and landed passed Amsterdam at EHHV Hilversum, my home airport irl.
Next week another tour guide takes over, T6's in the US South West. Enjoy the pics!
EHMZ from the air. Turn sharp after take off due to campsite under short final.
Campsite on the left.
Deltaworks, closeable dike to protect the inland from floods like the great flood of '53.
Deltaworks part 2.
Formation forming.
Formation with Brouwersdam in the background, a permanent dam to prevent floods.
Maasvlakte 2, the Port of Rotterdam expanding into an artificial harbor in the sea.
New waterway, Maas river into Rotterdam city
New Waterway, Maas river into Rotterdam city and harbor, with 2 doors of stormtide barrier clearly visible.

The Hague city, my home town
IJmuiden harbor entrance, Canal leading into Amsterdam city and harbor.
Ferry to Newcastle in IJmuiden harbor.
Formation flying over the beaches of Holland.

Crossing and rounding Texel island, barrier to the North Sea and the Wadden inland sea.
Formation flying over the Wadden sea, forming up over the base of Afsluitdijk, the dike that closed off the Zuiderzee and made it a lake: IJsselmeer.
Town of Hoorn (2)
Island village of Marken and Markermeer, next in line to be pumped out for more land.
Entry of Het IJ, river running into Amsterdam from IJsselmeer
Nice clouds over Vinkeveense plassen
Downwind 31 of EHHV

Parked at EHHV
