Online group?

Post by 3Ball »

Hey there!

Not sure how much online activity there is within FSX/FSX:SE outside of VATSIM. Especially within the A2A Community. Are there any of you that are on regularly? I'd like to start flying with a group, working on formations, enjoying flying with ya'll, etc.

I'm in! I only fly A2A aircraft though. I have been looking for someone to do some formation flying with and someone to just fly places around and have fun!

The 91st Bombardment Group flies regular missions in the A2A B-17G with occasional
escorts in the other A2A warbirds.

We also fly 'special events' such as the Doolittle Raid in MAAM-SIM B-25s, flights over
the 'Hump' in C-47's during our China-Burma-India Campaign.

There are a number of these scheduled events plus just plain flying for the enjoyment
of formation flying.

We have active members from the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Argentina,
and most of the European countries.

No because FSX.Steam can not connect to the DTP servers and is incompatible with the FSX boxed version which is what we use.

For our flights, missions in particular, we need to have control of the server to set the time of day as well as have our custom scenery installed. Also, on extremely long flights or missions with a high turnout, we need to be able to set a password on the session. The DTP "B" server allows us to do those things.

though it should be noted fsx:steam edition would allow all of that too + more, it'd just mean someone would have to host the session. I hear theres software out there now though that allow alls the sims to connect together MP wise, but ive no experience with it.

When I get my system up and running the way I want, with the P-51 I like to do some formation flying plus take a trip across the US hitting all the states. Anybody interested?

Just to add an update to this old thread, the 91st BG are now using JoinFS to fly online.
This allows all versions of FSX and P3D to co-exist in the virtual world.

Here is a link to the site.

Hey guys,
Since someone already bumped this old thread I figure I will just add to it.
Firstly, Hi everyone. I'm Rick. I go by Reptilerick on the interwebs. I have a twitch channel http://www.twitch.tv/reptilerick that I do alot of flight simming as well as other sim games and variety.
I am currently putting together a Cessna owners club type group flying experience. We haven't gotten the particulars such as times and days that we are going to fly yet but am aiming for sometime around 7:00pm eastern on a weekday. My schedule is pretty flexible so I'm willing to go with a general consensus. We are looking to restrict aircraft type to Cessna's in the range or 140's up to and no larger than the 210. I was originally thinking of making it a Cherokee only club but figured everyone had at least one Cessna in their stable. I will be flying the a2a 172 trainer or the 182. What I would like is to have each person in the club put together a flight plan consisting of between three and four stops of about 50-75nm. Suitable runways etc. I find that whenever I think of G/a flying, I tend to fly in the same areas that I know. So I thought it would be nice to have other peoples input that way we could all experience different regions. around the world.
The only other thing would be I would probably restrict scenery to freeware that is readily available.

Stop by the channel when you see me live or join my Discord group and hop into the flying channel to discuss things further and to join the group. Most sessions will be on fscloud but we may join the occasional fly-in on Vatsim.

If you made it this far, Thanks for reading and I hope to see you soon

Reptilerick
