FSX Gold/Acceleration online compatability with FSX Steam

Post by natet »

Is The original FSX compatible with steam for online flights?
I have old version and friend is looking into steam. Can we fly online together?

We are just trying to find out, because the original boxed set is so much more expensive.

Only because DTG made FSX:SE incompatible with FSX when it comes to Multiplayer and the lack of 'Direct Connect'.

Thus, FSX 'Gold' really BECAME FSX GOLD and those few remaining sources of FSX are milking it for all they can!

My understanding is that the protocol used by FSX:SE for multiplayer is different and not compatible with that used by FSX, thus the two sims can not use the same server.

It would be interesting to know if VATSIM or some other environment has resolved this issue.
