DigitalThemePark Canadian BC GA Flights

Post by Zoolander64 »

Greetings All,

First, I would like to start with an apology. It seems a great many folks where following our flights (whether they attended them or not) on these forums. I did not see many posts, so figured this was not being read. Foolish me. I got several complaints that our ongoing flight adventures were not being updated here.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way.

DigitalThemePark has another set of flights going on. We are following a route that zig-zags through Canada. Our GA flights are on each Thursday and Sunday. All though these are the "official" flights, we are always flying past legs, doing flight training and ground school. If you are unable to make the "official" time, just pop on in and there is always somebody ready to fly with you. All we ask is that flights are done online with one other person. That is what it is all about anyway, right?

Next Leg:
Leg 8: CYKA->CYHE (160.7 nm)
11/10(Thur) 2100Z, 2p PDT/5p EDT.
Real time / Real weather / Real Charts.

What we have formally done so far in Canada (Detailed maps found in TeamSpeak):
Leg 1: CAD4->CYRV (153.3 nm)
Leg 2: CYRV->CYGE (91.4 nm)
Leg 3: CYGE->CYBA (140.1 nm)
Leg 4: CYBA->CYJA (183.1 nm)
Leg 5: CYJA->CAH4 (83.2 nm)
Leg 6: CAH4->CYCP (56.9 nm)
Leg 7: CYCP->CYKA (147.9 nm)

Want to try out that A2A Piper Cub? How about the Real Air Scout? Any GA plane is acceptable.

For more details, connect your TeamSpeak to ts3.digitalthemepark.com and someone will be there to introduce you as a DTP citizen. We are gathering in Flight Division channels. Within our TS channel, on the right side, you will find more details of the route(s) and points of interest. I would suggest getting connected early in order to make sure your headset fully works before the actual flight. We like to be prompt and warm up our aircraft right at the designated time.

btw: You don't have to just connect during an event; feel free to connect anytime. There is always something going on.

Next Leg:
Leg 9: CYHE->CZBB (120.7 nm)
11/13(Sun) 2100Z, 1p PDT/4p EDT.
Real time / Real weather / Real Charts.

Fraser Valley
The flight departs Hope BC, and heads west towards Vancouver and the west coast exploring the Fraser Valley. Depart Hope, and fly to Chilliwack. There is a touch-and-go here. CYCW is well known among Canadian pilots because the airport's restaurant has pie that is worth flying for. (I fly for pie!) After leaving Chilliwack, pick up the Fraser River and follow it to the Alex Fraser Bridge. Pilots landing on the 26's at YVR fly right over this bridge and refer to it as flying over the goalposts. After flying over the goalposts, turn to the north and fly to Vancouver Harbour. There are plenty of bridges and a seaplane base. CYCH is the 8th busiest airport in Canada, and it's on water. Depart the harbour at or below 2,000 feet and follow the coast south, directly over CYVR. (VFR terminal route). After flying over YVR, pick up the Fraser River again an follow it inland until Boundary Bay comes into sight.

Next Leg:
Leg 10: CZBB->CYPS (110.4 nm)
11/17(Thur) 2100Z, 1p PDT/4p EDT.
Real time / Real weather / Real Charts.

The next flight has us departing Boundary Bay and flying north to Vancouver Harbour. Follow the Harbour out to the ocean, and follow the coast north. From there, pick up highway 99, also known as the Sea to Sky Highway.

Follow highway 99 north, past Squamish and into Whistler. Whistler is world renowned for it's skiing, and ORBX installed a floatplane base there. For those with skis on their bird, feel free to land on the lake in Whistler (CAE5) and enjoy the scenery.

After departing Whistler, pick up Highway 99 again and follow it into Pemberton, where we call it a night.
