Yes that's right. You're going to see standard planes as replacement. I highly suggest you pick them up!

They are excellent!

Cool..well still have no reply from David...

also is this gonna be a problem..I don't have the B-17 Bomber or the Spit...so I am guessing I would see standard planes..am I correct????

thanks

AirWolf;
I don't have the A2A Spits or Jugs, just some generic versions, and the fighters STILL show-up as Cessnas..
and, I'll reiterate what Dark Eagle said.. You do NOT have to navigate.. we fly to have fun, or have fun flying,
but for some of us, navigating is part of the package..
David has a "real job", but he should contact you a day or so before the next event..
Join us, have fun.. The Spits might look like Cessna's and the bombers might look like DC-3's.. who knows??
Most of us fly the A2A B-17's with AccuSim.

I would reallly love to get them...but I just got hit with a huge financial blow..so money will be a tough issue for the time being...when I can I will get them...right now I fly the FSX P-51D Mustang..and since its not out as a Accu-Sim, will that be an issue also..if not I will wait for Dave to send the email...thanks

Understood AW, I suppose David should be getting back to you today or tomorrow. He usually sends out an initial e-mail to the entire mailing list asking who wants to join. I suppose you'll end up on that list.

Looking forward to flying with you :)

Just in time for the next flight :)

David's grounded for this weekend, so no general flight then.

When either Ron, Romain, David or me can't come we generally don't fly (we've had 1 or 2 exceptions though), because we 4 started the tour around the world and we together want to finish it.

AirWolf;
If money is "tight" (when is it not??), I would suggest you just get the A2A B-17, at first. You can "add on" the Accusim
feature at any time.
To basically explain the Accusim, I'll say, it does NOT affect what other pilots see in Multiplayer. Accusim is strictly an
internal "program" (for lack of a better word) that turns an Airplane (in this case, the A2A B-17) into THE most realistic
flight sim plane imaginable. I do NOT believe the AccuSim "addon" is transferable between those A2A Aircraft that offer it.
In other words, the AccuSim for the A2A B-17 ONLY works on the A2A B-17.
On the main Forum page, in the "Accusim" section, under the heading "B-17 Flying Fortress", find the "pinned" topic titled
"'How To Fly' Accu-Sim B-17 Videos" These vids will show, and tell, you more about the details of how Accu-Sim works.
I will add this much... After I bought my first (then WOP) B-17 for FS9, then moved to the A2A AccuSim B-17 for FSX,
with the exception of a month-long SOH flight event (flying a C-87), I have NOT flown any aircraft other than the Accu-Sim
B-17. It's THAT good!
I believe you will be very pleased with it.
Looking forward to "flying" with you, as well.

AirWolf;
The "regular" A2A B-17 and A2A Spit, Yes..
I note the A2A version because "other" versions would not show-up in MP, unless
the participants actually have that make/model/breed downloaded & installed. This
is a common issue in Multiplayer.. You can only "see" what you have in your hanger.
That said, there are those of use who do not have the A2A Spit (myself), so it
shows-up as a fast Cessna. (I have a "generic" Spit and P-47 loaded, but they do not
"show up" when folks fly the A2A Spit/P-47.. go figure)
Also, when David sends out the flight plan, it will list everyone's livery/paint. On
the last pages of the flight plan are links so one can download the various paints used.
I have about fifty paint schemes for the A2A B-17 group, just so I can "see" who is flying
what.. Otherwise you see replicas of the B-17 you are flying. Again, this is all "eye-candy"
and has no affect of the actual flight or flying.
If you haven't heard, David is "grounded" this weekend, so there will not be a "regular"
flight this Saturday. Maybe one of the "group" might host another flight, but that's not a given..

Yes I am aware David won't be around...what would be nice if someone could link me up to the livery/paints in advance so I won't be spend too much time downloading and slowing everyone down waiting for me..

Right now I am trying to see what is causing my flight lead to studder around while I follow him..my flight lead is myself recorded and then played back as traffic..so I then try to do formation flying with myself...

Link to see what I mean

Air_Wolf it would be no good giving you the links to the repaint because you need the Accu-simed B-17 and Spitfire for these to work unless of couse you have bought them

AirWolf;
On Downloading the liveries and installing them, once you have an AccuSim B-17, as
Norforce noted, will take you days, if not weeks, to complete (unless you are at the
computer 24/7).
On the stuttering, was this vid made "in" your computer, using FS Recorder, or some other
"internal" program? Or was it done "on-line" via GameSpy or other Flight Sim server?
If the former (in your computer), I'd hazard a guess to say your computer hasn't got
the beans to run everything. If the latter, I'd suspect your ISP's Ping time or connection speeds.
I'm running an AMD64 X2 Dual Core 6400+ 3.22GHz, the largest Socket AM2 CPU built,
Four Gigs of RAM, Win XP 64bit and a GeForce 9800GT 1Gig Graphics Card. I was having
some "lag" issues (not as bad as your stuttering) while in MP Flight (we use Hamachi, which
is about the best there is on not sucking-up frame-rates). I fitted my Graphics Card with an
"Arctic Cooler" Heatsink & Twin Fans. Mind you, my GPU temps were in the "Normal" range
before the cooler install, afterwards, the GPU temps dropped ten degrees (C) and it made a
world of difference!.
I guess the first area to question would be your computer specs.. I consider mine to be a
cut above minimum! Or, as my fellow MP Pilots have suggested, I need to do some "tweaks"
to get things operating better.
I'm no computer tech, so take knowledgeable info over mine, but it's a place to start looking.

First I am on vacation for three weeks and next week is my last week of vacation...back to work Nov.7/11

As for my computer well its a Quad Core..8gig ram..ATI 5770 1 gig video card...

Next year I am gonna build a much bigger machine..and use this one for a friend when he shows up to fly..

As for the recording of the lead flight it was just on my computer..it was mentioned when flying and recording with FSRecorder not to do any looking around as the frame take a few seconds to catch up no matter what type of machine ur using..I will try this today..to see if this works..I will update you on this...

PS: I tested a different setting by recording lead at 1/2 speed this sort of cleared the problem..but what I am finding the closer I get to the lead the lead moves around alot..I have changed the settings to allow crashes this allows me to get closer to the plane for formations..

Cheers

Hi all,

Brrrr ! too cold there, even for my P-47. The only way to get all in the green was to have intercooler flaps nearly closed, a bit of oil cooler flaps open, cowl flaps closed and high power. With reduced throttle to follow B-17 cylinder temp was only 150°. I was using Supercharger (linking the throttle and supercharger controls) for carb temp.

Ready for take off

After take off, nice light, mist

Lost in the fog, damned why those B-17 have so much bank angle ?

 BOSD ... After computer crash I restarted the flight from a small airport but was too late to rejoin before the Anaktuvuk Pass.
