I would like to point out that I have exactly the same problem as Stuart (but with the new C172 installer bought and downloaded from the new A2A store).
My configuration is the same (windows 7 integral 64 bits) except for the version of P3D (v4.2).
Everything I tried didn't work (disable AV NOD32, change installation folder, ...)

Is there any way to repair Windows Installer?
Back in my Windows XP days it got corrupted on my system. My Advanced Installer (v6 I believe) projects would freeze or complain in some way. Upgrading to 4.5 fixed my problem but I see there is no download for v5 in Windows 7.
