Hello,
I've a little suggestion to made regarding the priming hints which you can see in shift + 2 panel.
It statest: 3@30°C 5@15°C 12@0°C
Since fuel - air distribution and priming behaviour have been changed over time with the core updates, this is way to much.
After long time of absence from the Spitfire (a shame, I know) I had really hard time starting it yesterday. Sitting at 23°C OAT at the ramp, it didn't catch after three strokes of prime.
I had to clear the engine with fuel cocks off, mixture lever in lean position and wide open throttle.
Especially for new Spitfire owners, the priming strokes should be reduced. In my case I think one stroke would have been enough, maybe an additional stroke while cranking the engine until it really catches. I used the MkIa, but think, this should also work for MkII.
Regards
Jens

Re: Suggestion: Changing priming hints in shift 2 pilot's no
Jens,
Those figures work fine for me...what was your throttle setting?

mmmhh... okay... throttle was set at around 12 % regarding the tooltip. The flat part slightly in front of the gear warning horn push button.
Edit: Did a new test. Maybe there was a glitch yesterday while loading the flight. Today, loading the saved flight after starting with the default flight, I had to prime more. Loading the flight was the same, so don't know what happened yesterday. Even after setting c&d on my second try yesterday, I had to prime less more than today.
I'll mark that as fixed. No changes needed.

Re: [solved]: Priming hints in shift 2 pilot's notes
Good to hear Jens!
Another way to start in normal conditions is to pump in 4-5 pimer strokes whilst turning the Merlin over with mags and starting mag OFF and throttle closed. Then release the starter, move the throttle a bit, turn on the Starter Mag. Re-engage the starter and flick the mags on after two blades.
A lot of mucking about for mine...but it was the early recommendation.

Thanks. Will try this next time. Sounds interesting.
Next step again changing to 3 bladed DH 2 position airscrew. Nice to go back to the basics after a while.
