Coffman Starter - only one cartridge - one chance to start.

Post by Ganter »

Been flying this beautiful creature for a couple of days now.
In the MkII variant with the Coffman Starter if I fail to start her up first time (Mags Off - ROLLS EYES)
I wait about a minute, then pull the Coffman lever to load a second cartridge into the breech but nothing happens on Start. No Bang, no go.

I end up being forced to do the philistine CTRL + E - which is horrible and races the engine and the bird leaps forward 15 feet or so.

What am I doing wrong. Does the Coffman only have one cartridge? The manual says 3.

Cheers,

Ganter

Have a look in the manual page 34 :-) down right next to the primer you have 2 small levers/rings. The one to the left kills fuel supply, the one to the right reloads the starter.
Kind Regards

Thanks, but I am pulling the correct lever - the Reload Ring and not the Slow Speed Cutoff.

do you have any cartridges left? check the shift 4 menu. If you use autostart I guess it will refill with cartridges before starting
Kind Regards

Found it! on the shift 4 Menu as you suggested.
I hadn't noticed it before as its grey and below the coolant level. Clicking it loads three new shiny cartridges into the Coffman.

Thanks for the pointer Tomas.
