A masterpiece the WOP 3 Spitfire. But I think there is a thing to be fixed: anyway this is a my personal opinion:
The Gauge Boost display + 0 / 8, and - 0 / 4; I've measured values in the range -7.0/+10.2 with Boost Cutout ON and values -6.0/+13.0 with Boost Cutout OFF. After the needle go beyond the +8, there are no tick in the gauge and, if around +10 or more there are some variations, the needle remain stationary; anyway the tooltip help. I think the boost gauge must be replaced with the old one on WWII Spitfire.

G'day Francis

No, the boost gauges are absolutely correct...this is how they were at the time each of the A2A Spitfire marques are modelled.. The Boost Gauges face readings throughout the development lagged the actual boost obtainable until (from memory) the 18, 24 and 32 lbs per Sq In gauges were fitted. Check the actual part numbers for the gauges in the various marques and this becomes apparent.

You just have to "guestimate" the actual boost numbers from throttle position.

Hello, I dont mean the Boost's values: they are correct yes. I mean the graphics of the boost gauge. End with 8, then?
Thank you friend

Like Darryl said:

Up to 8 you can tell what boost you are at. Any further, you have to guess/estimate.

Darryl, i see the boost gauge in your simulator here, viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14676&start=135, is correct. Why do not put a gause like yours on wop3 spitfire?
Thank you
Francis

The boost gauges for the MKI and MKII that are in the simulator are period correct. This is exactly how they were as they were taken from the factory during that time and are historically correct. To put the boost gauge that Darryl has in his Spitfire cockpit would be inaccurate for these particular Spitfire marks.

Dear CodyValkyrie, oki, I understand, the boost gauge will remain as it is, with the marks from 0 to -4 psi and from 0 to +8 psi, no matter if the needle goes further the +8 and do not find any marks.
Thanks you all.

Correct Ron,

As it started out as a Mk FR IX I have the higher number boost gauge. I still have 2 gauges that need changing to the Mk V config...Boost and ASI. The others are done, new pictures shortly. I still have to decide whether to put a 12, 16 or 18 in for the Mk V...that decision will be made to match MY favourite Mk V out of the ones that A2A ends up with

Francis,

the idea is to be historically accurate. If you put a later boost gauge in to make things easier, why not put a later engine in, metal ailerons, new wing design, better cooling..all/any of which any Spitfire which survived for very long may have got...BUT that makes them a later marque. Most Mk Is that survived ended up, effectively, as Mk Vs, some even as Mk IX!!! To put a gauge like my current one in the A2A Spit would be completely wrong historically.

A2A represents the "classic" example of each marque at a time when they were introduced or, alternatively, most prevalent . In any case at a fixed, chosen time.

cheers

Darryl

Well dear friends, you are saying that the boost gauge of Mk IIb ended with 8? Well, and this what model is? I see the boost gauge end with 24: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spiti ... ntrols.jpg
Also, the wop3 Mk Ia end with 4, the wwii wop2 Spitfire Mk Ia end with 16. Now what? The a2a wwii wop2 Spitfire Mk Ia is historically not correct? Or there was two Mk I with boost gauges different? I am getting a little confused.
Thank you dear friends

For starters, THAT is a photo of a Mk IX!!!

You simply can not look at ANY museum aircraft to get details of the cockpit in 1940 because, as I have told you..the aircraft that SURVIVED were updated constantly...

MANY hours research went into establishing the fine details of the cockpits.

Yes, the WOP2 Mk Ia was done on the BEST information available at that time and is much more akin to a Mk V as many museum examples examined exhibit these features but are still LISTED as being "Mk I" or "Mk II".

The ONLY way to establish proper cockpit detail is to examine original documents, manufacturing updates, improvement paperwork and such like...which was done,

As I've said, the Boost gauges are accurate at the time depicted...end of...

regards

Darryl

Just asking: there is some idea to remake the Fw190 family for fsx?
Thank you
