Hi Scott,
thanks for the reply.

I have reinstated the Accusim sound.cfg file and restarted FSX.

The aircraft (all three) fly ok with gauges reading ok.

The sounds that are missing are the engine running/shutdown but start up/turn over is ok. Also the undercarriage sounds are missing (I had not noticed before). Flaps sound (air) is ok.

I cannot select the three bladed prop on any of the three Spitfires. It makes a momentary attempt (graphics) but won't 'take'.

Hello Klem,

whilst Scott is going through the code checking for any inconsitancies thta may cause issues on your setup, can you please let me know if you installed via right clicking on the setup files and selecting 'run as administrator' ?

Also here is the Dx webinstaller to try, it isnt dx11 btw that is something different (going on memory there as MS currently has over 3 valid Dx versions in use :/ )

klem,

This sounds like you are not running accusim, because the prop changing not taking tells me accusim is not enabled.

It's possible you opened a can of worms messing with the sound.cfg. What I would do now is just uninstall accusim and the spit, then reinstall the spit and accusim. It only takes a minute or so.

Scott.

Hi Scott.

I did as you suggested but no joy. Here it is step by step in case you notice something:

Installed Dx Webinstaller from Link provided by Lewis (thanks)
Uninstalled Accusim
Uninstalled WOP Spitfire
Deleted A2A folders under /Microsoft Flight Simulator X/ and /My Documents/
Deleted a saved WOP3 Spitfire flight
Restarted computer (Windows Key.... Restart)
Installed WOP3 Spitfire as Adminstrator
Installed Accusim for WOP3 Spitfire as Administrator
Restarted computer (Windows Key.... Restart)
Started FSX (did not select any Stick profiles just in case)
Selected SpifireIIa
Changed time of day to daylight
Hit Fly
Select Virtual Cockpit
Start Engine <<<< No engine sound after 'startup'
Take off and retract gear <<<< No gear sounds
Reload Flight
Go to Hangar (Shift + 7)
Click on 3 bladed prop <<< Momentarily tries to change prop but does not succeed.
Close Hangar
Exit FSX

Reinstalled Dx Webinstaller just in case - would not take as already available.

I don't know if it is supposed to be but I opened FSX again and checked Task Manager with and without SpitfireIIa selected. No Accusim process is listed.

klem,

I assume, if you hit SHIFT-3, at the lower right corner, you see a "Damage N/A." This would confirm Accu-Sim is off.

If so, go to your SimObjects/Airplanes/WoP3_Spitfire/panel folder, right click on the "A2A_Spit.dll" and select PROPERTIES
Under the General tab, what is the date to the left of "Created"?

Scott.

Thought i'd post here rather than opening a new thread.

When i fire up the Spitfire automatically from outside i dont here the Merlin start up, just a bang and a prop sound that sounds like its been idling ever since i started the engine if you know what i mean. Also when im in tower view i always love to hear the Merlin sound as it goes past like your spectating the beautiful aircraft but theres no ''Merlin'' Sound, in the Real Air Spitfire the sound is pretty good. Is it just me or is there no real sound for the Spitfire when starting up and fly by?

Scott, I don't know if this helps....

I uninstalled everything, deleted A2A folders etc then re-installed just the Spitfire, no Accusim.

The in-cockpit engine sounds are back as expected but the undercarriage sounds aren't or they are so quiet I can't hear them (they are audible from outside the cockpit but not very loud).

Klem,

It seems, for some reason, the Accu-Sim dll is not replacing your base WoP3 Spitfire version.

Install Accu-Sim again, and if you still have no internal engine sounds, download this DLL and extract (and replace) to your [FSX Install]\SimObjects\Airplanes\WoP3_Spitfire\panel folder.

Let me know if this fixes your issue.

Scott.

Scott and Cody:

Now that I've read this thread, I realize that I too may be experiencing this issue. First, my computer specs:

Q9550 o'clocked to 3.8 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro

I have the accusimmed WOP3 Spit installed, and all's working normally, except that I've heard the airframe sounds (creaks and groans) only once out of several flights so far. The soundcard seems to be skipping some of the sounds that I've become familair with in your accusimmed Cub, P-47, and B-17, all of which I happily own. I do hear the Spit's lovely Merlin engine, the airflow when diving, and the cockpit sounds (switches and levers). But no creaks and groans when taxiing, braking, etc.

I'll try by-passing the Creative soundcard and use the onboard sound chip as per oelwanne's post.

Eureka!

thanks Scott that did it.

Funny thing is when I installed Accusim I compared the A2A_Spit.dll with the one you just gave me and the date and time are the same. Of course the packaged one still didn't work but the zipped one did.

Internal engine sounds now work and I can change props. Was the Merlin really that loud! I can barely hear the Tower :)

There may be something intercepting the installer on your system, that prevents the dll from being over-written, or, the dll may be in use. At least we know the problem is simply a file not getting installed.

Scott.

Hi Scott

just for completeness and in case it crops up again with someone else...

I realise now that the file properties I gave you were from the Spitfire-only install, I hadn't installed the Accusim (my bad I'm afraid). Hence your assumption that something blocked the Accusim installer.

The Accusim installer did seem to write the A2A_Spit.dll file to the panel folder ok whether I used the first download I took or the second (from the Order, I kept them both). In fact both installer's A2A_Spit.dll had the same modified date and time as the one you sent me. The installer .dll's wouldn't run but when I overcopied the one you gave me it did.

I can only assume that the downloads I took had a bad copy in them, whether by accident or some quirky corruption, both times, that didn't affect the file properties.

One for the FAQs?

Anyway I am a happy bunny now so thanks.
