Spitfire pilot sleeve visible on fuselage

Post by geopetlas »

Hey guys,

I've noticed that when in the exterior view, without the pilot, that the pilot's left sleeve is visible on the exterior of the fuselage.
These pics are from the P3Dv4 version of the Spitfire

At first I thought that I had made a mistake when I was painting a new spit_t texture.
Drove me crazy for about an hour trying to find my goof.

I finally noticed the problem when I loaded a different spit than the one I was working on.

Other than highlighting the sleeve for illustrative purposes I made no other alterations to the Pilot_RAF1940_T texture.

Any thoughts, ideas?

Very strange. I just checked mine, and it's solid blue all the way.

I think he painted the pilot's sleeve yellow so you can see what happens when the pilot figure is moved back into the fuselage to create the empty cockpit.

Ah...I didn't scroll right to see the rest of the photos. :D I checked my default paint, and the sleeve isn't showing from any angle. Might be related to the highly-polished finish?

Hey patful.

I have the same problem when I load up, texture.P7308, the Eagle Squadron Mk IIa.

I don't know how it's done and I'm just guessing here, but when the pilot is moved to the back of the fuselage could it be that there is a slight deviation along the path he travels? Or maybe not enough deviation to allow for the width of the pilot and the narrowing of the fuselage?

e.g. from axis (0,0) to (5,-1) or axis (0,0) to (5,1)

Like I said I'm just guessing at process.

That's the paint that I fly. The sleeve just isn't there for me for some reason. Panning all over the place, no sleeve. Weird. I don't have any way to post a screen capture, don't belong to any services.

After A2A supplies the fix, I'll probably have a sleeve showing.

Don't know if it's ask before yet, will also the FSX spitfire be updated with the new pilot figure and texture?

Like to know for some pending Royal Navy repaints, including the pilot  8)

I don't have this issue in v4.3.29.25520 Pro. Hey Michal, when you 'fix it' I hope I still don't.

Looks like this little bit of the pilot model in its 'hidden' position is visible only when the throttle is open, which is probably why it was never noticed in beta. :)

Thanks,
Nick

Hey Nick,

Wow, I never paid attention to this before because I haven't been flying lately because my joystick decided to quit. (Without out even a two week notice! :) )

I just checked the position of the throttle and it was indeed fully open.
Tried the external view with the throttle closed and the "sleeve" wasn't visible with the pilot hidden.

I see. A good thing we don't have back-seat drivers I guess. :)

Nick, not call it a bug, but a feature. Pilot is sleeping in the back and dreaming to slam the throttle fully open
