Duxford This Weekend (Photos Added!)

Post by Yoda »

Anyone else going? Looks like the weather will hold out on Saturday, but it'll get windy and wet on Sunday.

There are NINETEEN Spitfires on the flying list.

There were indeed nineteen Spitfires flying in the show. I was lucky enough to get shots of most of them as they taxied past after landing.

I didn't get photos of N3200 (IWM's own Mk I) or of the Mk VIII that Mary Ellis signed when she delivered it, since they both cut their roll out short.

Here's a few other shots...

One of N3200 (which would be great to see in the A2A Mk I stable)

And another parked Spit, a clipwing type

Some of the Hurricanes which flew --

And the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster along with a Tornado GR4 and a brand new Lightning

Its fantastic that they bring these historic aircraft out to occasionally stretch their wings. Terrific pictures, Kurt, and thanks for sharing them with us.

Wonderful pictures, Kurt - almost a history of the Spitfire's development in those images. Good to see the Hurricanes were not neglected. Thanks for posting, and well done! :)

Amazing photos - thanks for posting. I was lucky enough to see the Lancaster/GR4/Lightning flypast earlier in the year. The thing that struck me at the time, and is confirmed by your great photo, is just how high an attitude the lightning needed to maintain to stay in formation with the lancaster.
