“New” Spitfire!

I took the “new” Spit for a spin last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself!
Since I switched to P3Dv4 I haven’t used FSX once, therefore haven’t flown the Spit in quite some time.
It all came back to me though, started first try, managed temperatures, nice straight take off, some fun aerobatics and a sweet 3 point landing, on pavement to boot!
Thanks for an outstanding product!
....and that rear view mirror, wow, something I have been hoping to see for a long time!
Awesome, thanks again.
Looking forward to some more A2A warbirds.

Sounds like my experience last night in the Spitfire... like putting on an old favourite coat again! I need an oily rag or two in my room for the smell...

Maybe a glass with ethylene glycol in?

I need some consultation here. I discovered A2A back when all we had was FSX. I watched all the A2A stuff on YouTube, and ended up buying the J-3 Cub. I wavered up the Accu-Sim add-on, but ended up buying and installing both. It was a great airplane, but also somewhat of a "gateway drug." I looked at the Spitfire, P-47, Spitfire, and P-51 videos, and ended up with a P-40 with Accu-sim add-on. Next came the Comanche. Needless to say, I became a total A2A advocate during this period. Now I have P3Dv4, and fly mostly in my T-6, followed by the Comanche, with an hour or two here and there in the Connie. I have completely bypassed the C172, C182 and the Cherokee - why mess with those when I can fly the Comanche?

I plan to buy the Bonanza as soon as it comes out (faster and supposedly more challenging than the Comanche). There will be a shockwave as I whip out my plastic when the Civ Mustang is released. Yet, I'm hesitant on the P3Dv4 Spit. It looks really cool and all, and I want to "support" A2A, but will it just sit in my hangar under the wing of the Connie?

I waited a year before I bought the T-6, and now wish I had bought the Six earlier, because it is so much fun to learn to fly. How about it? What do you guys think? Should I get the Spit right now? Or wait for the Mustang or P-40?

Thoughts? :?:

The spitfire is really worth the nod. It is challenging in it's own ways. As much as I love the mustang's, the spitfire has it's own place. You won't be disappointed.

The Spitfire is a totally different experience from the Texan/Harvard... It needs more attention than the T6 in terms of engine cooling but the Spitfire is far more manageable on the ground than the T6...

If you can master the T6, then flying the Spitfore should be easy as pie and exceptionally rewarding!

I would love A2A to do an ab initio trainer like the Tiger Moth or one of the trainer Stearman variants like a PT-17... I know others have done them too, but an A2A accusim one would be icing on an excellent cake!

I have loved focusing on the T-6 while I was waiting for the P3DV4 Spit go be released. It is a great aircraft and Alehead is bang on with his description of how they compare.
The Spit is a wonderful aircraft to fly. I had the Civilian Mustang in FSX and again it’s another animal. For a start the rudder input requirements in the take of roll are a different story all together.
I would say the Spitfire is a great aircraft to transition to from the T-6, and maybe when then Mustang comes out get that too. I think they are different enough to provide varied challenge and reward.

The Spitfire is a really diiferent experience.

The controls are so light to the touch - you almost "think" it through a turn rather than "throw" it, and using the rudder aloft is not encouraged! I've been flying both the P-47 and the Spitfire a lot lately, and the differences between how they fly is very, very noticeable.

The different props available, different fuel grades, and the two different versions of the aircraft itself can lead to hours of discovery. Aircraft management is more hands on, as well. All of which I think leads you to being a better, more well-rounded pilot when you jump back into the A2A aircraft you already own.

Spitty is absolutely worth a try.

You guys talked me into it. Here we are on an evening flight out of Arlington. Got her down in one piece at Skagit Regional.

Started out with the Mark I. Easier to land than the T-6. Less twitchy on roll-out.
